Found this at the beach along with a civil war eagle shield infantry button. I am pretty sure it is some sort of button can you help id it?

I have seen these before, they are pre civil war civilian buttons. Looks like the shank is missing, or should I say loop. They have a "u" shaped loop for sewing to your coat. I will check my button boks for a reference for you and send a post if I find something. Nice Find!
