Whats the best way to clean gold and silver (Chains)

Electrolysis. There are many web sites for making a setup. Here are two. I have used it on silver coins, silver chains, and gold chains and rings. It works wonders.

Here's an example of what it can do. This silver ring I found was down in the wet salt sand at the beach for years.

Hello Mike,

I looked at this www.gometaldetecting.com and I think it is a great tip. I am such an idiot when it comes to techical stuff. Thank you very much for showing us this !

Glad to help. Oh, I also wanted to mention that I don't use the lemon juice of salt. I use a teaspoon of baking soda. Works REAL good. Here are some pics of my setup, inluding the power source. Notice that the piece of coat hangar is able to swivel in the mounts. So I can move that to one side and the fork to the other and get more or less separation from the item being cleaned, as needed.
