WHATS THE NEWEST VERSION OMEGA?

IF I TURN MY OMEGA ON IT READS 04...IF I HOLD THE PINPOINT BUTTON AND THEN TURN IT ON IT SAYS 06..ONLY REASON I ASK...IS BECAUSE MY BROTHER AND I PURCHASED 2 OF THEM YESTERDAY AND THEY HAVE DIFFERENT TONES (THEY ARE SET UP IDENTICAL)HIS SAYS 04 IF HE HOLDS THE PP BUTTON AND TURNS IT ON..HIS MANUFACTURE DATE IS 8/13 AND MINE IS 4/14..ANY INFO WOULD BE GREAT...AND ALSO IF ANYONE KNOWS OF THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE 2..THANKS

TALKED TO FIRST TEXAS..THEY SAID THE VERSION 6 OMEGA HAS A FILTER ADDED FOR 15 KHZ EMI..INTERNAL SERIAL NUMBER.. AND RESPONDS BETTER TO BIG SILVER OBJECTS..(MINE ALSO HAS A DIFFERENT TONE SETUP)..JUST THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE THE INFO..

Tone ID of the version 6 Omega, and which Tone/Tones you prefer and the type of hunting you do. I know on the version 4 Omega's I have enjoyed, the 4-Tone ID was my go-to for urban "flash money" hunting, such as tot-lots, but overall my preferences was the 2-Tone audio using a Discriminate setting of 16/17 to reject iron nails.

Okay, my Omega recently died and I've already sent it in for service and I'm waiting for word back to the repair cost or if its even repairable? Does anybody know if when you send an Omega back for service if the revision updates are updated and can the other later hardware upgrades also be included?
The below picture shows all my Omega does when you turn it on, yes the displays stays like that, and nothing responds to any controls.

when i spoke to first texas a few days ago, they told me anytime something comes in for service they automatically update it to the newest software..my brother just sent his version 4 in and it is being upgraded as we speak...good luck with your omega..i think they will be able to repair it ..

Well, I had to re-acquire the tracking number so I could check the shipping progress of my Omega, its supposed to be delivered to me Tuesday (tomorrow) so, by tomorrow evening I should be able to report back here with something.

Mark-------Please let us know if they upgraded your Omega to a version 6-----also would like to know if the version 6 handles the EMI problem better than the earlier Omegas.

What are the tone differences? Options or sound? It appears the newer ones operate at 7.69kHz instead of 7.81kHz.

On the old version ..2 tones in disc mode gave a low duck like sound for iron and a little higher duck like sound for coins and such..the new version low tone for iron and a high pitched tone for coins..

cool, sounds like some pitch carries over from all metal like the new F75. Too bad the v6 manual isn't online. Only v5. I suppose it could be testing by changing tone/pitch in All metal and see if the 2 tone pitch changes as well. Glad they are improving it. Tempted to get one again.

I think I have a one of a kind..lol..my brother just got his back about an hour ago..he sent it in for an update to the newest software and it came back with version 5..he called and first Texas said that is the latest version..and that my version six must have been recently produced..they also told my brother the only difference is the embedded serial number..but mine clearly has a different Tone setup as well..hopefully someone else with a version 6 can chime in and help out.

I just received my Omega, it came just before I needed to leave the House, so I've not put it all together yet, but I did plug the coil in and installed a battery. I powered it up while I held down the pinpoint button and it displayed "04".
When I get back this evening I'll finish putting it together and maybe do some air test.

Okay, I'm back home and I just put the whole detector together and other then its back in working order now (That's A Good Thing For Sure) I didn't notice anything different about the detector and its overall performance, but! that's just some quick simple air test, in the field it still may have some performance increase, but before its little brain died it performed really well. Also, about the revision number! in the problem report I even had stated that if the firmware version could be upgraded that while they had I would be interested in that too.

Now I need to post some positive feedback for First Texas in the feedback forum FOR SURE!
