What's The Scoop?

We recently came back from Orlando and Cocoa Beach with my new Sand Sharknd $89 dollar scoop. The Sand Shark performed well but the scoop was a bit hard to use. We are going back in February with the Sand Shark but also with a Stealth 920i scoop. I have not ordered it yet as I see it comes with a 90 percent handle or a 20 percent tilt handle. I am going to go collapsible carbon fiber handle for suitcase travel. Has anyone used one of these as I do not mind spending the dollars but I want to make sure I don't waste my funds. I also plan to purchase a CTX 3030 or Excalibur in the future.

920 stealth(20 degree) handle is my preference....scoop is great....cf handle is the stuff...personal preference....good luck with whatever ya decide to get!

Cant speak to the carbon and wish I had the 20degree, but you wont find better than a Stealth.

I recently purchased a scoop from Europe from ebay to replace a 6" circle scoop. Now the 6" was not bad. But when fighting the wave you have to get down pretty fast. I am sure you found that out. The Monster scoop looks pretty awesome. I like the idea of a replaceable wood handle. Can get them at Home Depot cheap and are pretty light.

. Did you hunt in vco or the standard mode? Did you have a preference? I have a Sand Shark also. Best find?

lasergod.
Sand Shark would be one of the best if not the ... Eric Foster and his best PI metal detectors :clapping:

I use the vco mode and put all the controls in the 1 o'clock position. I may buy a ctx next year to avoid all the wires. The shark is a great machine though as there is little learning curve.

I have the same set up. Sandshark and the 920ix. I'm relatively new to the game. But the scoop is awesome.
Use it in mostly wet sand, some shelly areas..

Suggest the 920i with the small 1/8" slits in the back. Helps catch the small ear ring studs and such. You can't beat Chuck and his Stealth scoops.

I have both the Excal and CTX for our Florida environment and recommend the CTX. You'll have a detector that does double duty...land and beach...and does both superbly!

Just the view from my foxhole...
