Today on the beach . Two men walked up and asked me if I found anything ? I said about 35 cents . and he took out a quarter and drop it at my feet and said pick that up .so I pick it up and told him -- Son thats one of the biggest mistake you ever made and he said what do you mean ? I told him if you want to insult me try dropping twenty dollars and see what I do -- and he got mad and left :rofl::rofl: I went on to find about $ 2.00 in change and had a great day --- Take care everyone -- Graw

Some folks think that we are looking for money because we are homeless or the like.
If they only knew some of our machines cost over a grand!

a great day then the rest doesn't matter. Many people we meet like this are very insecure and have to prove something. Steve in so az

I live in an area where the rich folks are everywhere. From Los Lagos where Eddie Murphy and some pro athletes live. to shelbourne, placer canyon, hidden valley and many others. These Places are notihng but mansions. So why am I not finding more at the places I hunt? I dont care what they say or do. Like I said , they just dont have clue.

Your story reminds me of the time I was in Florida visiting with my brother, Cliff, when he still lived in Hollywood, FL. We went to the beach and he used the extra detector I brought with me and I used mine. I was detecing and was going towards a rock or concrete wall that separated the parking lot from the beach and heard this laughter, so I looked up and there were these motorcycle guys sitting on the wall throwing pennies for me to find. I was wondering why I was finding so many pennies, so when they were laughing, I said, hey, throw a quarter for me to find, as I need to pay the parking meter again! They only allowed 2 hours parking and marked your tire, so we had to move every two hours! Well, one guy looked at the other and says, do you have a quarter because I don't, and the other shakes his head no.....so no quarter! I have thought about that every time I see motorcycle groups and remember how funny they were that day! Actually they were really nice and just having a fun time with me!

God Bless!

About 2 months ago, I had a bunch of teen girls from England throwing coins in one of the holes I was digging. (and not euros :) ) They looked scared when I walked up to them. I told them they were not the first people to throw coins at me. I explained to them that I didn't buy $1500 worth of equipment to find nickels and dimes. I added that one day they'll lose something in the sand and wish they had someone like me around to help them find it :)

I had that pulled on me and I told the guy to pick it up himself as he was the one who dropped it and I just walked away.. Sorta stunned the feller. :)

The other day I had an Oriental feller watchng me with great interest and asking a few questions. Later he came running over with a penny he had found and asked if I wanted it I said, " Why not." and thanked him.

I've been at this for over forty years and have encountered some strange things and folks. One time an elderly lady watched me intently for several minutes then walkedf over and asked where she could buy a weed eater that ran that quiet.

I have run into similar people already and this is the first year I have been detecting. What I take great joy in is the people from the opposite end of the scale. Just today my wife and I stopped at a little park on the way home. Pretty soon I have the little boy and his sister asking me all kinds of questions about treasure hunting. They helped me dig up a penny and in another hole a diecast car. You would have thought it was the royal jewels. Those kids made my day. The parents were thrilled that someone would take time to talk to their kids and share the experience with them.
Some days you have to take the good and the bad.
