What's your favorite coil

What is your favorite coil to use on your Xterra and why?

10.5" HF DD.

It seems to do the best in my area with good separation and depth. I have a handful of the other coils and even though I use them all from time to time, the 10.5" HF DD has proven itself over and over again against the other coils. Although I find lots of stuff with the MF DD, I seem to find more junk than with the HF. Also, nickels sound off and ID better with the HF than the MF.

In my moderately mineralized soil, I use the 9-inch concentric at 3 kHz in open areas. In addition to being a silver coin killer, the low frequency allows me to sort through deeply buried iron like a hot knife through butter! When the area gets congested with adjacent targets, I put on the 6-inch DD at 18.75 kHz. The higher frequency doesn't provide as distinct audio differences on highly ferrous targets. But it can't be beat for target separation. JMHO HH Randy

Well, I think all the coils are good in the right situation. But if I have to pick one
it would be the 6" DD.

The areas I like to hunt usually seem to have a lot of trash, both old and new. As a result the 6" DD HF coil is hard to beat, though the 10.5" MF coil splits time with the 6"' because of both its depth and coverage.

I would have to say three coils are my favorite. The 9 inch 18.75 for deep civil war bullets . 10.5 inch 7.5 for deep civil war bullets and the 6 inch dd for coins in yards.

easily the wonderful 5x10" for coins, jewellery and gold :minelab:

ask me again in 2 weeks after I have tried the new 15" WOT but I doubt my opinion will change :ausflag:

I have limited experience however I have experimented with the standard 9", the 10X5 DD and only very recently the 6"DD. Have to say early indications suggest the 6" to be a stand out especially in trashy area's. It's ground coverage being the only disadvantage in open area's. Aaron.

The 10.5 MF DD stays on my Xterra 70, max depth and seperation in my soil for relics. I am going to give the WOT a try when it gets here thou!!!!

I have the 6" HF, the 9" LF the 10.5 MF and the 9" MF stock coil.

All I can say is that all my best finds have been with the 9" MF stock coil.

I'm still waiting for the other coils to pay for themselves.

The stock coil has paid for itself six times over.

I do try and use the other coils a lot, to justify the money I spent on them.

Hopefully someday they will pay off!

Good Hunting

Denny
