Whats your favorite setting for 1270:fisher:

C.J.M.

Well-known member
You guys who own a 1270 whats your favorite settings?Appreciate your feedback.Thank you cjm

I'm not certain but here again I'm thinking the 1270 falls more into the Fisher Classic forum than the Fisher F-Series.
I know my brother had two of them at two different periods of time, but its been to long ago for him to likely remember the best settings.
I had one, that I took in on a trade deal, but I never really hunted with it enough to catch on to all its secretes.
There isn't any one period of time that I can remember much talk going on the forum over the 1270 either. I do remember
one user who had done a bunch of mod's to his and he posted some topics showing some good finds.
Currently on this forum I don't know any other person running a 1270.

Try this,
Go to the search option near the top of the forum page,
Put in Fisher 1270,
Select Classic Forum,
Put Shooter in the Authors search
at the bottom right select All Dates.
click search.
You should be able to find several threads where he is discussing settings with at lest my brother Ron.

Good Luck.

Thks Mark already posted him. Glad to here from you. Got some f75 question for you. I'll post later.

Well, between Ron and I where a little like Radio Shack,
"You Got Questions, We Got Answers"

I think Ron has had like four of the F75's now.

Really glad to see you back posting on the forum, we really need seasoned people like you on the forum.

I couldn't have ask for anybody more helpful than you were when I was going through the 1265x, 1266x, 1270 and the early F75 days.

My hunting time has went down a lot so I am down to my F75 and several coils, the other Fisher machines I hope have found a good home. My 2 favorite coils are the little 6.5" concentric and the 5x10DD coils. The 6.5" gives me the best feel for detecting and the 5x10 gives me good ground coverage and excellent target separation. The stock 11" and 5" coil doesn't get a lot hunting time these days.

Thank you for all your help,

Ron in WV

Have ing another little problem with the F75, well maybe not a problem. The factory reset solved the disc.toublem about not cancelling items all the way up to 65, forgot about the factory reset when not running right. This time a friend asked to find a large steel in his driveway.so I turn her on and she just rapidly fast chirping and as i was showing my son and told him to listen for a grunt which means iron the sound went away, checked disc setting it was 0, but as I went thru all the rest of the settings I saw a slash thru iron and foil. And the grunt was gone. Checked notch and disc. Settings, notch 1, disc.0, now it was pretty cold out but dont know if that would do it. Didn't really want to send it in, costs a few$$$ and I think our warranty is up. NY IDEAS.

Remember, notch automatically FLIPS opposite of the discrimination setting.
So, if an item is notched in with the discrimination set above that item, that item will be notched out if the discrimination is set below it.
So, notched in isn't ALWAYS notched in!!!! and has everything to do with the discrimination setting!

There both at the factory setting 0 & 1 there should be no slashes. I never noticed before..Does yours have a faint slash showing on iron and foil.

No slashes on my F75, I would suggest another factor reset before sending back for repair. I don't use notches either but if I happen to get into them by accident I just do the factory reset rather than use the controls to remove anything with the controls.

Thks Ron thats what I was going to do before sending her back.
