Wheatie run

I have been digging quite a few wheaties with the Omega the past few days. Got 9 this morning and that makes an even 30 on my last four outings. Un-fortunately, only 2 silvers....a 43p war nickel and a small silver ring. For any that may be wondering about the Omega's depth, fear not, it has nice depth. I put the small 5" coil back on a few days ago after using the 10" for most of Sept. and I've been digging coins in our bone dry ground with the 5" coil down to 5-6," a couple maybe at 7," according to the marks on my digger. I also dug a jack knife that appears to be pretty much toasted, but will see what it looks like after a good soaking. Also dug a neat 1944 Australia large penny. It has the head of Georgivs vl on one side and a kangaroo on the other. It is the second of those I have dug on this site. It came out quite cruddy and is getting a soak as well. Will see if it gets clear enough for a picture. My gb today was 57-61, sen. 99, disc.1 and d3 tones. For coin shooting, the Omega has inched its way to the top as my go to detector. HH jim tn

You will like the Omega, Bryan. You like small coils like I do and you will find the Omega with the 5" coil really works great in the trash. Is it Th. yet?:detecting: good luck. HH jim tn

I hit just under 22 'wheaties' in September, but ALL of September was worked using the 5" coil. I switched back to it the last of August and didn't work the 10" or 11" until the afternoon of October 3rd. It was ONLY the Omega and 5" coil DD last month for 895 coins. Not all shallow, to be sure, and many were in the 5" to 7" range. I've always been fond of smaller-than-stock coils, and the little Tek. coil hasn't let me down.

I know that I am going to be workeing with all three coil the rest of October and November, but feel certain that the 5" DD is going to see about 50%-65% of the in-the-field detecting time. :detecting:

I trust you'll come up with more silver coins soon. I only count 10

Thanks Monte. I hunt a moderately old housing site quite a bit that has been quite good to me silver and jewelry wise the past few years that is teeming with all kinds of trash. When the site was razed they basically dozed the houses down, so one can imagine all the various kinds of trash. Big, small, and all sizes in between, to contend with. Since the mid 80's when the housing was torn down, the site has truly been pounded. Its a city owned property. Consequently, there are few easy remaining targets. Most found targets now are the result of having the right detector and coil combination for un-masking...and the Omega and 5" coil currently seems to be a great combo. HH jim tn
