When did they stop making the X50????

I was looking to buy a new X-50, and not having previous experience with minelab.....I went on the web for research. What I'm finding is nothing! Nothing on minelabs site except that it was introduced in 2005 and has been discontinued. I'm guessing that if it's very old, regardless if it's new, the warranty would be void. Help!!!!!!! Thanks:please:

Why would you want a 50 over a 505?
Just curious.

I really wouldn't know the difference.....just getting what I feel is a good deal on the X50. It is brand new in its box, never used. I just wanted to know about how old it may be as far as dated technology and available service. Would it still be considered a decent unit by today's current model?

April 2009 was when the 505 took it's place.

I don't know if they still service them. It's not the same as a 505.
A simple call to Minelab Customer Service would answer that question quickly enough.

It certainly is a decent unit. It's the same V-Flex technology as the newer ones, but lacks features now incorporated. For example, the 50 can only use 7.5kHz and 18.75kHz coils, while the 505 can run 3kHz too.

They started making the X-TERRA 50 in November of 2005. The X-TERRA 505 was introduced, replacing the X-50, in April of 2009. There are quite a few differences between the two....which may or may not make a difference to you. Basically, the X-505 added more control over Volume, Threshold, Sensitivity, Noise Cancel channels, number of Audio Tones, Ground Balance, added another "notch segment" to the discrimination levels, added an additional Discrimination Pattern, added the ability to work with all three frequencies of coils and changed from a one-year warranty to a three year warranty. Here is a chart showing the specifications of each model.....
