Well the same was said about displays and some still say they have no use today. It's a matter of personal preference. Because you see no practical use only means it has no practical use for you.

I think that a color screen does nothing to enhance the performance of an already top of the line machine.I say i'm happy with the black and white.

You see, I think that a color screen at this point, should be a throw-in. I don't think we should have to pay extra for it, or sacrifice some other advancement in detecting technology. What I would want more than the color itself, wold be higher def. (picture quality) I am thinking it would add something extra to the info that is being given. As far as battery drain goes...the new LED's draw very little. If a standard charge lasts for 11 hrs I would sacrifice. the 15 min of extra power it would grab. My Docteroptics gunsight I have for my M-4 lasts 30,000 hrs of "on" with a CR2032 wafer batt. Maybe we could tell some of the coins apart that cluster in the 12-40 through 44 range. It seems like some of you are saying it's an either / or situation. I wan't it all

I have to agree Dan, I think we deserve it all !! The battery in the v3 with color screen did'nt have any battery issues that I can remember.

I keep 4 battery packs charged and a alkaline back up for extreme emergencies.I also have a large supply of small to large 12 v non-spillable gel cells on hand I could wire up if needed.If it will work better using more amps I say bring it on.
Maybe a color screen that is also a touch screen so we can eliminate all the buttons as well.Then wireless coil assortment to match the wireless headphones and a built in camera, gps and cell phone plus a magnetometer for good measure.
The advertising brochures would come to our doors complete with an second mortgage application for the down payment on this beauty along with a list of good divorce attorneys for those that are/were married.

In all seriousness now what do we need a color screen for....... Im trying to train my ears to the tone and it would be more of a disrtaction. I have seen an awful lot of posts on this forum with some pretty terrific finds that were somehow accomplished without a color screen.

Well I've had both machines since they were introduced and have hunted a lot with each. I almost always take both when I hunt and cross check them against each other. I love both of them and wouldn't part with either! These are two totally different animals that perform! It's just a matter of putting the time in and learning the machines!

Why a color screen? For the view-ability that's why. I understand that some (including me) don't use/depend on a screen that much, relying more on their ears instead; but if a screen is supplied and I want to use it, surely is nice to be able see it with high definition clarity! Gone are the annoyances of poor monochrome resolution/view-ability and blinding glare! Yep, surely would love to have one on my TRAC! Battery life is very good too, surprising really, considering the color graphics and continuous back lighting.

Just my two cents .
