Where Are All The Outlaw Posts?

berryman

New member
Has the bloom come off the rose? When the Outlaw first went on sale, there was a lot of enthusiasm, but that seems to have dwindled. Would love to see some of the new Outlaw owners out there start posting their hunting experiences and results. Looking forward to some more positive feedback on the Outlaw.

I don't own an Outlaw and probably won't for quite a while. I bought a Bandido II Umax recently and at the end of last week started the process of acquiring an Eldorado Umax. I hope to have it by midweek next week. I have two new detectors to me to learn now. My wife says I can have as many detectors as we have kids, lol. So if I decide on an outlaw or something else I will have to sell or trade. The outlaw looks to be a solid unit though. I am thinking that maybe the lack of posts might be due to people out hunting with them and not taking the time to post, or that people are just trying to get in the last hunts before the cold sets in, or they might be trying to dig some final targets before the ground freezes. Just some ideas, I could be wrong.

good post,,,,, I know I wanted and came close to buying one but I backed out because I felt where I was very new at this I'd better wet my ears with an older model and learn the basics 1st PLUS there where more folks who used them to get info from and nobody had an outlaw yet cept 53silver.. so I got the vaquero and compadre BUT I'm curious like you why not that many posts and good finds with outlaws,,,,,,, I'm not hinting at its a bad machine I'm just curious if Tesoros are such a nice machine that pretty much people are comortable with whatever they have at the moment.... seriously whatever my vaquero hits on I know for a fact that my compadre will not miss it either even on a bad day and maybe so on with most of the other models...

I'd love to see some reviews and vids of the outlaw in action, maybe hit on something then change out all the coils and and go back over that target so we can see how it sounds,, with all that being said though Tesoro stuff is so good at some point there will be a pretty solid outlaw following with possibly me riding on some coat tails somewhere in there..

Or decide on one more kid... :)

Just bought the Outlaw and learning. So far so good. Noticed one thing though. Outlaw has expanded discrimination range (which is very good). But in the same time, signal in the discrim mode not so stable (at least comparing to Vaquero). May be I have to learn more...

I picked up an Outlaw and have been using it for my last few hunts, so far I really like it. My Tesoro background is using a Vaquero which is a great machine that has found me lots of good items. Owning the Vaq with already having the 5.75 concentric, I hesitated on the Outlaw but really wanted to see if I was missing anything with the ED-120 umax machines over the ED-180. I do really like the Disc on the Outlaw and find that the no motion all metal mode is great for sizing and super pinpointing. I flip to that mode quite often and wish sometimes my Vaq had that option. As far as depth with the 5.75 and the 8" has been great, I did not get much of a chance to try out the 10X12 W other than in my yard, I think it will be good too. I am very happy with both detectors and am defenitaly hooked on Tesoro, the response & recovery time on both machines are what sold it for me. I feel I got some great versatility now with two machines that can ground balance and all the coils for all the diverse places I hunt.

I've just got an Outlaw today, and tomorrow i will give it a try.
For now, beware of supertuning, that usually is also kmown as detuning, because you have to press detune button on air before you continue to hunt, after you have dig a target, or your signal, even in discrimination mode, will have a weaker sound.
Let's say that with the Outlaw you get back to the origin of our hobby....Hey, who said White's?
Take r.

Interesting, I never really gave much thought to one mode affecting the other mode as far as de-tuning. I haven't found it to be a problem yet because I still found some coins at 6 inches or so after using this method to de-tune in the all metal mode and switching back to disc but now you got me thinking. Im glad I made this post because now I get to go home and do some more experimenting switching between the modes. Thanks for your input Alessandro and yes these detectors are just pure fun!

I haven't posted anything on the Outlaw for a while, because I think I have put all I can into my former posts, and anything else I have to posts would be just repeats of what I've already said. It is a great machine to use, locates targets well and isolates deeper targets very well. It is hot on silver, particularly stands out with small silver, (similar to the DeLeon in that regard, with the additional bonus of ground balance). HH

You're right about the Outlaw being hot on silver. It gets really good depth on a dime.

The Outlaw's audio tone sounds good from its speaker. The audio tone doesn't sound so good to me when I use my light weight Summer headphones with the Outlaw.

It sounds a little better when I use the Gray Ghost headphones, but not as good as the Killer B's do with the Outlaw.

I really like my Gray Ghost and Killer B's headphones, but they're too hot to wear in the Summertime.

Fall is here I'm getting ready to run the Outlaw though it paces.

I just wish the Outlaw's audio tone was more like the audio tones of the Silver and Conquistador. My hearing my differ from most.

I have been using my outlaw for about 2 months now. I am very satisfied with this machine. I mostly use the 8" coil it discriminates and pinpoints well. I used the 10x12 at a local lake and did well with it. The only problem I have found so far is that the 10x12 loves steel caps. The 8" will disc most of them out below foil but the 10x12 wont. I did find multipul coin targets at depths greater than 8" with the 10x12, one dime was at about 10"(best guess). That the deepest coin I have ever dug. I have noticed that the CSC does not work as well on the Outlaw as it did on my Conq. Finds so far, lots of caps and tabs, about $5 in change some small silver earrings and one 14k ring.

I haven't tried an Outlaw at this point as I have too many detectors already. I would like to see some posts from users that can offer serious comparisons to the Eldo umax and the Bandido II umax as well as the Vaq. Before I sell or trade to get one, I want to be sure I'd be getting a worthwhile step up compared to what I already have. So you hunters that have an Outlaw and any of the others I mention, I'm anxious to learn what your opinions between these machines are.

These are some shots of some of my today's finds.

High mineralized ground. 8" coil.

Cal. 50 shell 8" deep

Cal. 50 bullet 9" deep

Cal. 50 shell 4" deep

Musket ball 6" deep

US Army button, at first sight I thought it was a bottle cap...depth 4"

I liked my Outlaw very much. It is friendly, sound is well modulated and it is easy to understand shape and depth of a target.

I had a Tejon, a Vaquero and I have a Modded Cibola. These detectors should be proud of their new little brother.

Alessandro, excellent work. Those are some nice finds. Thank you for answering about the outlaw and showing us an example of what it can do. I like on the first picture you showed, that you said it was found in mineralized soil. I am sure everyone is just curious about the Outlaws capabilities, because many on here already own a few Tesoros and coils for them. Also there were a lot of posts when it first came out and hardly anything lately showing finds or people using the outlaw in posts. I think people are just having fun hunting before winter or have other responsibilities and that is why there are so few posts. Thank you for your post.

A quick note on the Outlaw since I noticed in your signature you use the vibrabrobe 580 pin pointer. I use the same pin pointer and love it but with my Outlaw it causes a little more interference and find myself tilting the coil far away from the probe while digging. I never had to do this much with the Vaquero for it seemed to remain quiet, maybe just a slight chirp here and there. Not sure why the Outlaw is more sensitive to the PI probe, maybe frequency?

Theres a U tube video posted by 53 silver on his new Outlaw, sounds as if he likes it better than his vaquero, I would be
interested in seeing comparisons of both machines. Granted the V is 14khz and the O is 10

Brentjj, I have the same problem with cross talk between my vibra probe 580s and all of my Umax detectors. It is a small price to pay for the performance I get when I use the 580. I have found a few ways to remedy the problem though. When I am swinging the detector I pit the 580 behind my back. When I dig I put the detector far enough away that it does not chatter. If it is going to take a while to dig, i take off the headphones. These methods seem to help. I thought of something else you might try. If your headphones cord is long enough you can put your outlay behind your back while you dig. My dad hunts with a Cibola and can change the frequency when using his vibraquatic (made by the same company). Maybe that is why the vaquero has no cross talk, because of a different frequency or the HOT technology. I just picked up an Eldorado Umax, which has a frequency switch. I cannot wait to take it out tomorrow. Good luck and HH

I have 5 coils that work on the outlaw. The 3 stock ones and a CSC, and 8x9. I plan on doing some air tests and comparisons on in ground targets with all coils on both the Outlaw and my Conquistador umax. I can also throw in some Compadre tests. I haven't had the time lately. I figure I can go around and find some targets with the 10x12 and then test with the other coils/ detectors. Then dig targets and see what I get. I have been working a beach at the local lake that is giving up some deep coins. I figure it will be a good place to test. I might try to make a video but I dint have a good camera so it might not work.

Barber Bill, if you have the Eldorado and the Bandido II (Umax) then you probably dont need to rush out and get an Outlaw....if you wanted or needed to replace one of the others, then the Outlaw would be a great replacement....What you could consider is getting the 12x10 DD coil for your Eldorado and Bandido II. Good depth and good coverage (of course, like all DD coils, it does hit well on the serrated bottle caps). The 12x10 coil is very light for its size. HH

That's pretty well what I've thought, too. The Outlaw appears to be a great detector and a great combo with the 3 coils, but probably not a great jump over the Eldorado or Bandido, especially seeing as I've already got pretty much all of the coils covered. I do have an 11" concenric I picked up use some years ago that I seldom use that should give great coverage and an improvement in depth, but most of the time I prefer to swing the 8" donut or the 9X8 spider. In fact my most used coil is the 7" concentric as it performs quite well in trashy parks and still gives decent depth and coverage. I'm definitely over loaded with detectors, but I like them all which makes it hard to get rid of one, lol.

I just got my Outlaw, so Having only used it twice for a few hours each time I don't have anything to say about it yet. Up until tonight I had only lightly scanned through the Manual. I should do much better tomorrow after reading the manual slowly from cover to cover. This is my third Tesoro but my first Beep and Dig. I have the 12 x 10 coil on the Outlaw, the 8in donut on my Cortes, and had the 5 3/4 coil on my Deleon. Tones would be nice but I'm used to the single tone from using the Deleon. my first 3 hour hunt with the Outlaw and 12 x 10 WS coil was cool, I found as much clad as scrap and the site was a very well detected site so it was not very trashy. My second 3 hour hunt Went way different, a lot of trash and very few Coins. I tired of digging trash and switched to my Cortes with the Outlaws new 8in donut coil. My day got better fast, targets 1 and 2 were a dime and a quarter instantly then a few Trash hits and A Silver ring. Tomorrow I will have a way better feel for the Outlaw, I started a new site where they just tore down a house, I will put the 8in donut on the Outlaw and use it there tomorrow. So far I think I am really going to like the Outlaw. I will update this when I know more, Don't hold your breath though as I'm not fast at reviewing things. GL & HH.......Pat
