Neal has them both... I know he uses the Sun Ray, so that should tell you something. The SR is slightly larger and lighter in weight. I have had my SR x8 for probably 10 years and it still kicks grass!

I have both also .Both are quite good .I like the tones of the Minelab a bit better ( a real high pitched squeal on silver ) but the Sunray X-8 stays on because even with the inserts in it , it is lighter . The inserts make it slide easier on brush also . It's a shame the inserts are no longer made .
