where d i get a steinless steel tip for my aluminum scoop??

rtg put one on my scoop while i was there in pompano beach,im thinking it was only 10-15 bucks..works great..
talk to joe there at rtg..

i called them they onlu have them for the 6" scoop i need one for my 5" aluminum scoop
 
Try a local machine shop or welding shop. They could cut it and form it to fit and install it for you, or you could take it home and drill your holes and pop rivet it on yourself.

Hey tom, i was thinking of doing this myself, also to a 5" rtg. The 6" ss tip seemed fit ok or did it have to be worked before it sat flush w the scoop? Did it seem to hold up? Thanks
 
I have a place by us if you need work done. Too notch work and cheap. PM ME.
 
I went to a local metal recycling center and they had restaurant supplies and found a stainless steel serving tray about the right gauge.
Paid by the pound and got a tray for about $14.
 
I've done several myself it's an easy project with some basic tools. The stainless comes from a scrap pile at a sheet metal shop. If you don't have rivets #6 stainless nuts and bolts work well with Loctite.

I would advise against joining aluminum to stainless steel and immersing them in an electrolite (salt water in this case)

Ask any boat builder how he would mount stainless railings on an aluminum hull.

I'm a boatbuilder!!!! Yes there's a galvanic reaction but I flush it well with fresh water after each hunt. It was much cheaper then a new scoop and it will most likely last several years of hard use. Even some of the scoop manufacturers do it and I know one beach hunter wwho has one of those and it's 5 years old and still running strong. I agree a solid stainless scoop is the best bet but I just seriosly improved a cheap scoop for under $10. When it finally dies one day hopefully I'll be able to afford a better one!
