Where do you live and Hunt?

Just curious about us Deus users.....

I live in NW Arizona, in Bullhead city, across the river from Laughlin, Nevada. LOL I mostly hunt in Needles, California.

How about you?

Jim

I live in Austin, TX, and hunt mostly parks in Austin proper. I do spend some decent chunks of time down in FL, but use different beach/water detectors when there. Have been doing more & more research to try find places to hunt in Austin as well as outside the city.

I in Sanford, NC. Would really love to get into some civil war relic hunting. There is some great civil war relic hunting to the North in Virginia and South toward Charleston, SC. I hunt mostly old home sites.

Spent 6 years in Goldsboro when I was stationed there......

Plenty of coastal areas and the Smokies.....Man what a nice place!

I'm in Wayne county Michigan. Half hour drive from Detroit.
I don't get out much but when I do it's usually local parks or schools.

Hi Jim & All...
This is one thing that I would like to see the forum add to the posts up in the corner similar to what is on others.
I like knowing where I general others are hunting also. That gives me an idea of how their settings will be of benefit to me.
Thank you for the question.

I'm in Auburn, CA
I hunt gold rush sites and old properties.
When I have only a short time to hunt I'll hunt the Tot Lots and Schools to help keep the ear in tune.
Love the Deus and always learning....

Memphis TN for me - I'm a native of this place unfortunately but recent events in the city has lead to a couple of stellar places to hunt if you don't mind finding a bunch of trash. There's not a lot of detecting interest here compared to the amount of city residents, but there are plenty of places to hunt here - the most successful hunts are private property but some of the older "hammered" sites still give up goodies thanks to new technology!

When we took trips to St Louis when I was a kid, the finds up there were exponentially better than the paltry clad and occasional Wheats found here in similarly aged neighborhoods. I remember finding more older coins and jewelry in schoolyards, and on one hunt in particular with my dad and uncle, I remember skunking both of them with the higher clad count - my uncle thought he had me beat with his Merc and a couple of Wheats that day!!! We all had a "wrap-up" after hunting this one school and were comparing finds - when it got to be my turn I produced almost $10.00 in clad, a silver necklace, a small gold earring, a sterling ring, and coinwise I had a 1920 Wheat, silver Rosie, and a Civil War bullet which must have been dropped after someone bought it as a souvenir.

This was 1989 and I was 12 years old - I'll never forget that summer using the 1265-X - my dad had a basic unit with discrimination (can't remember the model or manufacturer), and my uncle swung a White's 5900 DiPro (I may have got the model name wrong). We all found handfuls of coins at each school we visited, with my uncle claiming the edge on most occasions due to his experience and detector. Uncle George passed away unexpectedly in 2000, and was an avid detectorist for close to 30 years. If not for him, I would have likely never been introduced to the hobby, and undoubtedly he still accompanies me while detecting...

Still, Dad and I are able to hit many local sites and reminisce about those older hunts - and in the days before I turned 16 my most favorite pastime was TH'ing anywhere I could. As long as we've been doing this there has been a competition for the oldest coin found - something we can brag about jokingly over future cups of coffee...

Bremerton, WA. I've lived here for about four years now, but I've been in the general area on and off since 2000.

I had no interest in the local history (nor any knowledge of just how interesting it was) until a few years ago, which is unfortunate. I missed a few prime opportunities because of this.

My first MD was from Radio Shack, as I suspect that it is for a lot of other people as well. It was a piece of crap then and it's a piece of crap now (I recently air tested it prior to gifting it to someone), but its first and only workout was on an extremely good and virgin site. I had to cut it off after that one hunt unfortunately, but it got me interested enough to buy a Tesoro, and then to eventually buy something else.

I do parks and permissions in town. If the forum posts are to be believed, the planting strips have been hit pretty hard in the past but I'll take a look at them when I get around to it. The parks have been both better and worse than my research led me to believe. I'm very surprised that I've found no silver yet, but I'm equally surprised that I've found as much gold as I have. This is Bremerton. Who the heck wears gold jewelry around here anyway?

i live in rantoul ,il, hunt old schools and churches, farms , parks. try to find where farm house used to be, many are no longer there. usually are good places to hunt.

I was born and raised in So. Calif., and still live here with kids and grandkids. My first detector, bought in 1975, is a Compass 94B Automatic. In 1976 I changed jobs, my oldest child was born and detecting went by the wayside until my kids got me another detector for fathers day 2005. I hunt parks, beaches and occasionally private property. I travel with my wife, she's a jazz singer, to Europe to hunt also. I still have the Compass, here's a pic...

I live and hunt in southern Oregon. I call Gold Hill home, it's a small town near Medford. I hunt Parks, Schools, Churches and where ever I can. I've been detecting about 2 years now and had my Deus for a month. I've got a lot to learn about this machine.

Near Omaha, Nebraska. Been hunting 14 years in about a 75 mile radius of Omaha. 1st detector: White's XLT; 2nd: White's DFX; 3rd: XP Deus. With 25ish hours under my belt, I've already made finds with the Deus I've missed with my first two fishing poles.

I got into this hobby late in life, so I'm forever wishing for a time machine....but then I think I'd be burned at the stake for possessing some mysterious, demonic device.

Live in California, Detect all of California from both mountains ranges to sea or valley to desert.
