Where Pulltabs Hit on the 1350

I don't have a GTI1500 like you do Blake but I find that very interesting.
Wonder if you are actually imaging the width of the pulltab one way and
the length the other. Put a pulltab on a clean piece of ground and see
if it still images that way. You definitely have my curiosity up on this one.
Glad you mentioned it.
Might want to start a separate post to make sure this question gets noticed
by all the GTI users. I have no idea what the answer may be but I sure would
like to find out too.

Whist out today I did notice several times, when I imaged a complete pulltab, depending on its orientation, it would imagine as size B, then when I rotated the coil 90 degrees it would image as size C? I need to check this out some more as I dont know if this is a reliable indicator, or if the coil is picking up another item in its field - anyone else notice this?

There are only a few options that come to mind, mostly having to do with signal strength over time.

I'm certain there are directions with the GTI detectors that tell you to sweep as low and parallel to the ground as possible. These are probably coupled with an admonition to make ensure sweep speeds are "just so" and that the target remains centered.

All of this points to a time based, amplitude dependent process. I'm willing to bet it is also unreliable outside of 6" in depth.

My question is this - After reading of your results, how does Garrett make it work so well in the trash using a larger than normal coil?

How does Garrett do it so well? What makes it even more amazing is the fact that the GTI1500 design must be 10 years old! Shame its a darn heavy tector, plays havoc with my tennis elbow...
