Where to rockhound? a novel idea.....

Join the GPAA. Many gold prospecting locations have a lot of interesting rocks besides gold and the dreaded "hot rocks". Was at the Orogrande NM claim on Saturday and lots of garnet, olivine, copper minerals, colorful gossan rocks, and other stuff that looks interesting but I don't know what it is.

Speaking of hot rocks, at Orogrande there's magnetite rocks (at one time magnetite was mined commercially there) and also rocks that look just like magnetite (and heavy too) that are dead on a metal detector, I suppose they're goethite. It's weird to have two rocks side by side both looking like magnetite and one boings hard and the other may as well not even be there.

Good suggestion. GPAA has lots of interesting claims all over the country.
