Which 10.5?

I'm sure that the 15" coil is a great coil and I'd love to try one but I get the feeling that you would have to have the perfect environment to use it. I'm sure many times throughout the year I'd probably be in a situation to use that coil but for everyday detecting, in my area, I'm not sure that I would get the use out of it.

I have one area right now that I kind of feel the coins are in layers and with multiple coils we've gotten down 8-9" easily. I would really like to see if the WOT coil would expose another layer of history but can't justify buying it just for this one area. Who knows, maybe I'll make an impulse buy one day. ha ha ha

Honestly, over the last year I've used the 15" and the 6" 3kHz coils the most. The 15" in 3kHz isn't near as ineffective as you might think. Being that particular frequency it doesn't get the response from low conductors, while it still gets great response from high conductors. So even at times when you'd think that masking should be a problem it isn't, though at the same site an 18.75kHz coil could well be miserable to hunt with. I'm not saying that the lower frequency ignores low conductors, but the contrast between high/low conductors is quite notable.

That's sort of my situation. We have 68 very large old parks that have been hit hard over the years. My thinking, whether right or wrong is that there may be some good finds at the deeper depths that a big coil will find.
Our local MD dealer told me one of his buddies uses a15" on his X70 and loves it. Think I'll see if Dick(the dealer) can put me in touch with his buddy so I can extract some info from him on what he's finding with it.
Otherwise, the coils I already have are perfect for where I hunt now.
Since picking up my 705, its brought some excitement back into hunting I haven't had in some time.
