Which Book Is Best Please?

C. Nyal de Kaye

New member
I have an Explorer SE. I note many favourable comments in these pages about Andy Sabisch's books.

On looking at his website, I find that there are at least two that cover the Explorer viz: 1: The Minelab Explorer & E-Trac Handbook and 2: Mastering the Minelab Explorer.

What do you regular Explorer users think is the best one please, and why?

Thank you.

If you are using the SE you should use the book that best breaks down it use. It also gives you an over view of the Etrac should you see it as a possible up grade. Personally i think both are worth the read just because the first gives some pretty darn good methods on the explorers use. Once read thou.... there is NOTHING that will serve you better than time with the coil on the soil.

IVE GOT ANDYS NEW BOOK AND ITS GOT A LOT OF GOOD INFO IN IT. BUT STILL NEED HANDS ON EXPERIENCE PLUS THIS FORUM HAS ALSO HELPED ME A LOT

either research sites for your area or surrounding area also and then go out and locate these potential sites and find out if they are still there or if they are privately owned or city owned. If privately owned, then you need to find out who owns it and then go ask permission to hunt the site. Lately though, I have needed little research to find the sites I am working.

What I have been trying to tell everyone here for awhile now is the reason that I am doing so well is going out on road trips and hitting spots that I haven't been to before, thus the reason for all the finds I keep getting. It could be the area where I am hunting doesn't have many hunters also but I have seen some plugs so someone else knows of the sites but apparently only work them from time to time. I just traveled around 300 miles this Sunday (one-way) and it only cost me around $17 in gas (one-way) which isn't bad at all and also one of the key reasons for me doing so well again this year. I call it cheap entertainment for only $30+ an outing. If I didn't have the Saturn I am driving now, I wouldn't be able to afford the gas and go as far as I have been going.

So here is what you do.

Either research areas of interest that you are looking to hunt or just jump in the car and hit the road. Go further than you have ever gone before so the area is new territory to you and see what happens at these New Old Parks, Ball Diamonds, Fairgrounds....you name it. You maybe surprised that areas just out a little further hold a lot of goodies and then you will see that my finds are factual....not fictional like some think. Just remember to make sure your detector and gear is with. You never know how excited some people get and I wouldn't want anyone to leave home without anything.

Anyways, I hope this helps Erik and everyone else. Best results is knowledge of the area but you can get lucky by just trying locations like I have been doing lately. Good Luck and HH!
