Which coil for the F 75 LTD

JRGTWOCREEK

I am having to purchase a new coil for my ltd. I have the 5" DD but the larger one is not working anymore. I think
that something happened to the wires. Which coil would be best to purchase for hunting old homesites and hunting
coins ? I am having to hunt alot of areas that is solid red clay .

11"x 9" bi axle elliptical DD coil, the one that the 75 comes with is a great coil. Did you have that coil in the water before it went bad? They did have some water problems with them, I did. Fisher replaced it.

I'd stick with the stock 11"x9" coil, as well. It's a good all around coil for coins and relics.

keep on diggin'

Coils wires seem to be prone to breaking close to the coil. It is easy to check if you have an extra hand or two. With a metal signal source generating a tone, rotate the coil wire about 6 inches from the coil in a circle if the tone does not wobble in and out, try moving up 6 inches at a time until you find the intermittent short.
There is a possibility of water leakage mentioned in Steve O's post. Either way checking with Fisher is sound advice.

I like you lost my 11" coil ( water hunting got it ) . Not knowing if it was the coil or the electronics. I decided to buy a used 5" dd, it proved my machine was fine.

When the time to buy a larger coil came up I decided to go with the 13" ultimate dd. If given a chance to do it again I would buy the original 11". Its depth and better sensitivity to small silver makes it a better suited coil for my coin and jewelry needs. The 13" seems better suited to the relic type hunting.

Hope this helps,
