Which Coil?

I will be going to metal detect in England soon. I have version 4.0, both HF coils and an 11" coil. I have been there before and know that most finds are less than 8" down, usually in the 4" to 6" range. The soil varies, but is not usually highly mineralized. So, do I go for the coverage (ie 11" coil) or go HF?

I've been to England a number of times with a CTX and a DEUS. I have always used the biggest coil made for each machine. This year I'll be going in Oct., I will take my HF nine inch round coil and my 11"X13" LF coil. I don't have the elliptical coil, and, if I had it, I'm not sure that it would be that much of an advantage over the nine inch round HF coil. I want the big coil for some greater ground coverage.

Gary Blackwell's video using the HF elliptical is pretty impressive for the low depth heavy iron areas. The round would cover a little more area if you're on a time schedule. Save the 11 for areas in the states you can come back to. HH
