Which detector and coil combo, talks to you the best? Many feel that modulated audio, rather than staurated audio, does a better job of

Letting the detectorist "figure out" depth and composition of a target. Of course, other "detector specific" factors make up the complete underground picture. This is about how a detector helps YOU figure out weather to dig or not, by sound, not by meter.
For instance, for myself, I can tell more about what is under my coil, when using my Sovereign, than with my other detectors. The 8" Coinsearch is my favorite coil for this purpose. I learned quite a bit about the Sov, from posts made a few years ago, by David at Dixie Detectors and Rick in N.D.
It would be interesting, to hear what you have found to be your favorite "talking" detector. This is not about depth, just descriptive beeps! :)

It has a language all it own and some find the tones hard to understand, but when you do and with a 180 meter I find I can dig less trash and more good targets. I also feel it may be one of the better detectors for gold jewelry too. I find that gold will sound smoother than a pull tab even thought the meter reads the same.

That would have to be the Explorer XS. I had over 1400 old coin finds in 2004. This machine just takes me right to the keepers. Just ask Rick(ND)!!! It's like music to my ears.

Explorer without a doubt. There are times I will use my Explorer after using one of my other machines.... you have to shake your head at the sounds even when your familiar with them. The Explorer's sounds set it apart from other machines.

Modulated audio differs in some machines for instance the Tesoro version is more graduated than perhaps the Whites and is perhaps a pesonal prefernce depending on ones hearing and needs..
Seems like some might be confusing audio variances with tone ID.
To me older Tesoro's and some of the older detectors didn't have all the bells and whistles but excelled in audio variances. As far as Explorers or Sov's the tone ID of a silver dime would stop me in my tracks. And lets not forget the XLT which goes from -95 to #95 all with a different tone..I think learning the language of a unit takes time and many excell with different brands as they all have a language of their own and some just more distinct audio variances..
