which is better for whites GMT 4x6 coil or 9 x 2 hotfoot coil ?

:usmc:

I don't own the GMT but I do have a GM V/SAT with the 4 X 6 DD Shooter coil.

Here at the bottom are a couple of write ups on the 4 X 6 coil with a GMT. I kind of take it these may have been the first ones put out there for testing by more well knowns or Whites dealers. Wish I could find another concerning the more technical side of concentric elliptical and DD coils I read a few weeks ago. In short and in effect though (as I understood it), the DD 4 X 6 for example works out to be about a 2 X 4 in it's coverage but is more efficient in that area it covers than if it were a concentric elliptical (standard) 4 X 6. If it were a concentric elliptical, it would have a coverage of about 4 X 6, having greater depth than the DD coil but would not be as efficient in dealing with the ground. All that means to me is you must have a better trained ear if using a concentric elliptical. From what I understand, the DD is less effected by ground allowing for more use of Gain but gives up some depth by it's DD design where the concentric elliptical may not allow as much use of Gain but has more depth though is effected more by the ground.

There was also a read I came across on the Hotfoot and it's abilities but I can not recall where on the Internet I found it. At the time, I was looking into getting one of the two Gold Max 8 X 14 coils, sorting through the pro's and con's of both to see what would work for me best here. In the 6 X 10 size elliptical shape coils, I have both the DD and Long Scan. I have hunted with the Long Scan and though I can not turn the Gain up as high without overloading the machine, I do get more depth and have found some pretty small items I did not think I would have heard. With the DD coil, I have noticed some loss in depth but boy can I turn up the Gain on it compared to the Long Scan and sometimes all the way without overloading the machine. I find that one (the DD coils) is quieter than the other and that takes some getting used to, at least for me. As for the GM 4 X 6 DD Shooter coil, I would not be without one. When that little rascal can hit on stuff it takes a good eye to spot in the sorting it out of the dirt it's in, I'm one who is very impressed with it. I have not found any Gold yet but I have found what is about #12 lead snake shot and I have read if you are finding lead bird shot, you are running your machine correctly.

I have some experience with the Goldfoot 2x9. The 4x6 is definitely a better choice. I the Whites coils 4x6 are good coil on Goldmasters. The 2x9 i had gave many false signals when the coil was bumped on a rock, so a pain to use. The 4x6 dd is a hot coil so you need to wrap the cable were it exits the coil nice and tight around the pole.

Robert... Gosh your v/sat looks shiny-new... You take good care of it. Mine is a mess and I've
even lost the trapdoor for the battery compartment and use tape...
