ExplorerII Can't handle the weight do to my shoulder (arthritis).
With no hipe, but hands on experience, what lighter & comparable( if possible) machines, would you recommend?

Would be great, but the ones I've seen looked rough, wish Minelab would lighten it up or create a hip mount
HH

with a good hipmount version of the explorer.
i hope they don't lower the quality of the explorer by trying to make it lighter though. as it is, it's heavy and powerful. and, i would take that anyday over something light with less depth and poor quality.
but, my fisher with the 10.5" coil is heavier than the explorer with the 10.5" coil, or at a minmum, just feels worse to swing due to balance.
amazing to see folks complain that the quattro isn't any lighter than the explorer. of course, if it was lighter and had less depth, then they'd complain about the depth. <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">

looks rough, i think it's too much money also.
just my opinion.
wish minelab would make a kit, or a new explorer hipmount model.

Pictures are too small, but looks like he's tangled in wires? <img src="/metal/html/sad.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":sad">

I agree, they need to modify XII and offer it has a xIIa or something, I hate giving it up, How does one drop in standard after having the best <img src="/metal/html/cry.gif" border=0 width=40 height=15 alt=":cry">

But the only wire is the cable that goes from the coil to the brain box. You are going to have that with any hip-mounted detector.

i can't see using a detector that requires using both hands. how do you swat the mosquitos? <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol"> <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">

Explorer in its present configuration just does not hipmount well, also puts a strain on your back muscles and sort of ties up two hands, add extra strain on the coil cord and its obvious a lighter new configuration more ergonmically perfect unit needs to be considered by Minelab. Never heard any mention of switching arms and could be an alternative for those that can swing with both...Every unit has give and take aways and we all agree the unit has some good innards...Gosh everyone remembers the Eagle Spectrum and the hipmount designed Sierra model was not much better..Only till the XLT emerged was the problem solved and only see one way to go for those long days of swinging. Simply put a new lightweight design..heck everything is getting smaller and imagine one of these days Minelab will see the light.

it looks like he's on the right path,
Have you have a chance to use one, I'd like to here more from the field <img src="/metal/html/oh.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":O">
