Which small coil for my Safari? Sun Ray X5 or 8 or SEF Butterfly 6x8

Hi guys I'm a newbie and need your help. I just bought a Safari with 11 coil and like many others want a second coil for trashy sites. I've read so many reviews I'm uncertain. I'm in California and want a smaller coil for city parks etc. I know Sun Ray makes a great product from the reviews I've read but I haven't seen many direct comparisons between the SEF 6x8, the Sun Ray X-5, and X-8. Any suggestions and personal experience information would be most appreciated!!

Thanks in advance.

Don't take that pro-coil off until you get some time on it. The pro-coil seperates VERY well and is deep. A small coil is a good weapon to have but experience on that pro-coil will make you appreciate what that machine can do. I like the Sun-Ray coils on minelabs myself . I had a 10X12 SEF and did not like it compared to the pro-coil. If you have any friends that have smaller coils try them out if you can if not good luck with your choice. HH :minelab:

Thanks Hershey.

Yeah I've heard many say that time and experience with your machine is the key, and to have a good ear which I definitely want to develop. I plan on using the stock 11" coil for quite some time before switching for that very reason, perfecting my ears. I just want to have an extra coil around, and in the future, "coils" to have a better chance at finding some goodies amongst the trash.

I was also was wondering if one of the smaller coils I mentioned was better at finding small gold (under 1 oz) than the other? Thanks again for the advice and hope to hear from more of you guys out there. I can really use the help and I know a lot of other people are curious about these small coils and how they compare to each other as well.

Thanks again. Glad to be part of this great forum.
