Which Tesoro

Here's my question!

What's the best Tesoro Detector for Coins and Jewelry
that is: easy to use with good point, good depth etc...
Do any of the Tesoro detectors let you use a DD coil?

Price dose not matter just the above.

What would you buy.

So far, my favorite Tesoro is the Eldorado uMax fitted with a 7 inch concentric coil. A match made in Heaven.

It vacuums up coins and finds plenty of jewelry. It has plenty of depth also.

It pinpoints like a laser and it is so light I can swing it all day long.

I have a Vaquero on the way to see how it compares to the Eldorado.

Tejon or Vaquero ! Both use the same coils. Both are a vacuum for gold and silver, also coins. :clapping::thumbup::thumbup:

The Tesoro Eliptical is a Double-D isn't it? - Terry

Hey Terry, the 10 X 5 Elliptical is a DD and was originally stock on the Lobo, but is also used on the T,V &C, I got one for my T, to use on an early 1800s' site full of iron & nail, trash .Works fine, gets decent depth, and I found a nice 1812 button with it that I had missed with the 9x8 and 5.75 Con. coils. I think there are several round DDs' for most all the rest of the lineup. I see the Silver Umax gets real high marks for Jewelery & coins. too HH, Charlie

the Silver uMax with a 3x18 is my weapon of choice

You really can't go wrong with any of the Tesoro Umax series. Most owners are super satisfied with the one they choose.
But, generally add a 2nd Tesoro machine shortly after that has some add'l features.
You can get your feet wet with a Compadre or Silver. Then get a higher end Tesoro (with manual ground balance) along with a few extra coils.
By the way it's not uncommon for a Tesoro owner to own 2 or more Tesoros.

My favorite combo was the Cortes with the the CleanSweep Coil. The ID is great once you get it figured. But I like shallow ground hunting and sometimes it is faster to make an ID by just digging. So personally I think the lighter Golden uMax with ADJUSTABLE notch paired with the CSC would be best bet for jewelry.

If you want a screen, the DeLeon.

If you don't need a screen, the Golden uMax with a clean sweep coil seems like a great weapon for coin hunting.

It depends on where and what you are hunting. If you are hunting a very trashy place and just want to cherry pick pennies dimes and quarters almost any Tesoro will work excellent. If you are hunting clean places, almost any Tesoro will work. If you are hunting trashy places which almost all places are now, you are going to need a Notch to knock out pull tabs. If you are truly wanting to find Rings and such you are going to have to dig those pull tabs. For every ring found there are at least a thousand pull tabs dug. If you want Nickles in a trashy place you must have a Notch and you will still get some Pull Tabs.

I use a Deleon and I cherry pick the Pennies, Dimes, and Quarters in Trashy places such as my School Yard. I just turn up the Discrimination to include Zinc Pennies and go to town. The smaller coils will help you as well as the Elliptical coil.

If I am hunting a clean yard of an old House, I will turn down the Discrimination to just under a Nickle and dig most signals.

For Hunting all Coins including Nickles I have a Golden Saber II and it is great for the trashy areas where you can not really dig those deep holes anyway.

So in short to do anything you want I have to say Cortes even though I have not used one.

Also keep in mind if you going to hunt with a friend with the same detector. You will want the ability to change the frequency then.

the compadre is a detector that I will keep for sure

Never swung a compadre....how does it do?

I like it a lot, it's a simple one knob detector with an expressive tone, very light, it has a good time response, a nice discrimination and for me it is a good detector for veterans and beginners alike
