Which X-Terra to buy

poorman

Member
I am considering taking a X-Terra to Eastern Oregon for my long Relic hunt. I will be hunting old Town Site(abandoned)and Homesteds. My question is which machine would be best. Does the 30 get as good depth as the 50? I am not prospecting, so would that eleminate the need for the 70? Or, is the 70 deeper than the 50 in All Metal Mode.I don't want to buy more machine than I need, but I don't want to need more machine than I bought once I get there.....The other machines I am taking are my Modified IDX Pro, and an M-6 Matrix. My brother and I will need one more machine for a backup. Thanks in advance....poorman

The 30 is good and probally plenty deep ....it does not have the ground balance feature, when I hit some ''heavy'' dirt it seems to lose depth awfully fast, all in all I think its a decent machine, and at the price point its tough to top.......good luck .......

Hello poorman....Chuck@TreasureHut here. I think you would be much happier with the X-Terra 50. As Adam said, the ground balance on the 30 is fixed and the ground balance on the 50 is adjustable. That is probably the single most important reason to go with the 50, as ground balance adjustment, and successful relic hunting are synonomous! Also, the sensitivity can be adjusted to a much higher level on the 50, which in reasonable soil will add an inch or two to your depth capability. The depth indicator on the 50 is enhanced over the 30, and you have three noise cancel channels on the 50, with none on the 30. Get close to power lines or heavy equipment and see how much that means to you! I carry both in stock, and have sold quite a few 50's so we have some experience with the machine. The customers rave about it, and a few have already traded it in on the 70, to enable them to use the 3kHz coil, and get even more depth.

I would luv the chance to earn your business and provide you customer service, second to none.

If minerals are high, go with the 50 to get more depth, if they are low go with the 30. I have both 50 and 70 and like them both very much. Never have used the 30 but pretty sure it will be an excellent machine for low to moderate mineralization. Good luck. John

you feel you might want to do a little prospecting along the way then the 70 would be the way to go. Which ever one you decide on, get the 18 Khz DD elliptic coil. It is a keeper even if only for its better seperation and should help a lot with the mineralization out that way.

Thank you all for your input. Sounds like going with the 50 is the safest way to go. I don't know yet how the ground is so I better go prepared. Thanks for the offer Chuck but I am going to have to look for a good used one. I have seen at least one 50 for around $400. I have a couple weeks to look. Thanks again, poorman
