White's 12 inch mono vs the 12 inch DF coil!!!!

Jim Robertson

Has anyone tried both coils yet? And if so how did the mono do? Thanks Jim

Yeah tried them both and the single mono was the best for where I am here in Australia which is why it is sold here only with the single field mono. Not from my say so but from the testing of others before the TDI Pro was released over here. The single in our ground did a better job and seemed to get a bit better depth. Only used it on our goldfields though and a beach might be a different kettle of fish!

The mono gets a very noticed increase in depth over the DF. Especially in air testing. PI machines don't air test well anyway but I was very impressed with air testing the mono coil.

There is an obvious difference in weight; the mono is lighter.

But in my ground down here I ain't exactly sure if I have it fine tuned. I don't have the TDI Pro so I don't have the additional GB adjustments but with the regular TDI, the mono coil seemed to give more stray false signals and the threshold seemed to drift off a bit in my opinion. In my ground there was an increase in depth but the extra noise that accompanied it made me wonder if it was really that great of an advantage.

I just ordered one to try at DIV and at the beach this summer. I guess only time will tell. Thanks for the replys folk's. Best hunting to all. Jim
