whites 6000/Di pro plus

I was given a 6000/Di pro plus and would like to know are they a good detector? I know it was made in 1988. I have to get the rods and coil because they was not included. it also has a depth master bluebird on it too. my other question,is it worth putting a little money in ?

The 6000 Di pro was one of Whites best. I would get the 5.3 coil or 8" coil, they work best in trash. Good luck Flintstone

Yes, it is a good detector, as far as it goes, and is well worth getting it operational.
It is a bit heavy, since it uses the 'C' cell batteries and has a pretty large box. I personally thought the backwards handle was pretty comfortable, and it took a while for me to adapt to the modern "arm cup" design.
The "Plus" model was the last of the "blue box" line of 6000/5900 detectors. It was the only model of "blue box" detectors that used a fiber lower rod, and a 950 coil.
While you can order your rods and coil online at White's, I recommend giving the factory a call at 1-541-367-6121 and talk to Mary. She'll get you fixed up with exactly what you need to get going.

In the interest of accuracy, I want to correct this statement. The White's Eagle II also used a fiber lower rod and 950 "pancake" coil. Sorry about the error.

I have the white's 6000dipro,,,still in its case,,,took it out last year from the closet ,dusted it off,, put 4, C Batteries in ,,and took it to a local park,,,found a nice mercury dime,,,,I have the white's V3i ,,,but the 6000dipro , I won't give up on it,,,,had it for years and still works fine. It's my first unit and hard to part from it.

I was reading the owner's manual for the 6000 Di Series 3 recently and noticed a statement that the detector would pick up a quarter at 10 inches in GEB Disc. Optimum conditions, of course, I'm sure, but still... Then consider that the 6000 Di Pro Plus achieves an advertised depth increase of 30% over previous models. Just goes to show that if you take time to truly learn these detectors, they are still contenders in today's environment.
