Hi,I have just found this metal detector which belonged to my father in law.I have resoldered the three 9v battery connections.Does it need all 3 batteries to see if it's working.?I suspect it does.Is it wired in series to make 27v?

Hi Kevin. I also have a coinmaster setting in my closet that belonged to my Brother an law. I don't know much about it. It does have three 9 vt batterys an I'm sure It needs all of them. Your prubley right on the voltage. If it was wired in parallel it would draw more current but the voltage would be only 9 volts. I thanks that's right

This sounds like a older whites detector and would be a good idea what model it is as many older detectors I have used back in the 70s look like they have connection for 9 Volt batteries, but they hook up to packs of AA Batteries. Some of the Compass I had it had 3 pack of 4 AA batteries that had 9 volt connectors that attached to the packs. I think my first detector a Whites Coinmaster 4 also had the 3 pack of 4 AA batteries that used the 9 volt connectors to attach the pack to, so make sure if this is the case before hooking up 9 volt battery to a circuit that is only made for 6 volts. This is why I mention that some were this way and maybe yours do take 3 Volt.
