Whites DF PI ?

Blank Planet

New member
Hi

my DF is making some strange noises, have hunted this beach for years with no problems and well how do you tell if its conditions or machine, and how do you explain noses a pulse machine makes  tried every setting i could think of. couldn't get it to settle.

its like it was resetting itself all the time like the sound of hitting a target then a long drawn out sound after that and then do it again, in between sharp popping nosies like you would get from a lightning strike out at sea etc.. falsing on any small debris i would hit with the coil, found a target got it out of the hole and couldn't find it with machine my buddy had to show me where it was with his detector it was right under its nose.

i know just from reading what i have written it sounds like something is wrong, have used this machine in black sand and pulled stuff coins 10 12" or more out of it there. on this beach there is some rippling of black sand on the beach not consistent just all over the place i thought it might be that causing problems then i think about the solid black stuff it worked in.

i have tried to explain the problem best i can any advice is very welcomed :clapping:

Sounds like you have a problem with water in the coil... or check your battery compartment for the same thing... some of the first coils leaked, I had a bad coil that Whites replaced... i was hunting and all of a sudden I had a loud bing type sound then the threshold became very unstable.. I waved the coil over the scoop and it didn't see it. just guessing here...

thanks Craig for the info, tend to agree with you and didn't know that they had had an issue with the coils so would make sense, just strange that i would find a target in the sand then when out wouldn't then visa versa at another time, will let it dry out run some dry tests then wet tests, but my gut feeling is water in the coil too or coil wire, lucky still under warranty so could be worse hey.

Have you removed the coil cover to be sure something isn't under it that may be giving you a problem ?

yes coil cover was off, have sent it back so see what they have to say-but it just got to the point i walked off the beach in disgust that i couldn't detect any more, so hope they can fix it up and i can get back out there.

thanks for the replies and help!
