I am currently a Minelab user with an Etrac....I am very happy with the Etrac but I need go get myself a backup....I have been looking at a used White's DFX and would like to get some feedback on it as I have never owned a
Whites before. I have owned a Garrett See Hunter Mark II a Fisher CZ 70 Pro, Mine lab Xterra 70 and a Tesoro Verqero....I have been happy with all of those and am going to keep the Etrac, just need info on the DFX..
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

About everything you would want to know plus more on the DFX forum http://www.findmall.com/list.php?28

The DFX or V series is a great backup to compliment the Minelabs IMHO. The DFX is everything the Minelabs are not, faster swing and very sensitive on lower conductors. The DFX is one of the best jewelry detectors I have ever used.

I have been using the Etrac almost exclusively the past two years and feel pretty confident in my ability to make it do what I want it to do. I used a DFX for 3 years exclusively and never felt that way a single outing. I found stuff with it, but because it was so complex, I was never sure I had it set right for any situation. Do yourself a favor and read the online manual. The number of settings (all interrelated) will boggle your mind. And check out the way to set up for maximum depth. That's a 15 minute process by itself! Unless you're getting the DFX at a fire sale price, I would recommend the M6 or MX5.

After selling my DFX, I got an M6. Good depth, great ID, fast setup. Found more gold and silver with it in the first six months than I did with the DFX in three years!!!

Now I have an MX5. Looks like it may be as good, maybe even better, than the M6 - with some very useful bells and whistles.

That's my two cents!
