Whites Dual Field coil change?

SWMO Mark

Would the 9.5" coil off a Whites PI Pro work on a Dual Field? Thought it might be a better coil for rough surf.

Yes, but it's not much better in rough surf. The hole-in-a-pancake design flops around too much. The best design for rough surf is a skinny donut with the rod knuckle right in the center. Eric makes coils this way, and White's used to on the earlier PI-1000 & PI-2000 models. You may want to rig up a brace to keep the coil from moving.

Turn the 12 inch coil around 180 degrees. It shift the weight towards you and greatly reduce the coil from flopping around.

Aloha I did as Terry said and the reverse coil makes a world of difference. This would make a great tip in a water hunting book. Thanks for the tip, Paul

I made a simple brace that works well.

I cut it out of an old dense plastic cutting board.

The bolt is a plastic toilet hinge bolt that comes in a set of two from hardware stores or Lowes, etal.
