Whites PI Pro VS Surfmaster II

I'm tring to deside between a Whites PI or a Whites Surfmaster II. I like the Surfmaster discrimination but I'm not sure how it will do in black sand. The PI finds everything! Who has experience with both that can give me the pros and cons of both? Also looking at a Fisher 1280X. Which would be the best at the beach and lakes?

I had the Surfmaster II modified last year. Really gained a lot of depth. However, I don't have any oceans near me, just fresh water lakes. Just another alternative. Here are my results:

The results looks GREAT! What's ths cost of the modification? Thanks for the info, Eddie

The Fisher CZ20 or Minelab Excalebar might be a choice to handle both if you can afford them.

Reason I asked I was born and raised at Plamlico Beach on the Pamlico River. It's east of Washington.
Thank's for reply.

I work on the Pamlico River at PCS Phosphate and live in Pamlico County.

Hello,
I have a PI Pro and a Whites Eagle II and Spectrum and also a PI3000.
My experience is that if you are on salty area (wet) part of the beach or in a black sand beach (regardless of wet or dry), then nothing works better than a PI detector.
If you are on a white dry beach, nothing beats a vlf detector, better if digitally programmable discrimination type.
I recently found out that the Eagle II is a real killer on heavy 1 2 Euro coins...
With mi PI Pro I can work areas of the beach and surf that almost all other Italian guys can't .
Happy Hunting !
Luca
