Could someone fill me in what kind of machnie this is are they a good beach machine. Unable to find any information on it.

Whites Surfmaster II is a waterproof detector based on the White's Classic II platform.
It is no longer in production.
A lot would depend on what, and where the beach is your going to detect.
I use them in the salt water. Yes, they are more stable units to use, but it will still work in the salt with a little care.
It does fine on fresh water beach's, and can even do well as a land detector.
