New member
howdoo guys ,i aint been on for a while,i have just bought a whites surfmaster p.i pro in good condition and was wondering if you guys could give me tips on using it for the gold rings,i know the double blip signals are iron bobby pins and nails and coins tend to blow my ears off but cant find gold with it yet.i have been told only to dig the whisper signals is this true.
i also use an etrac and a sovereign on the british beaches with good results and hit gold rings at over a 12'' deep with them but lots of sand on our beaches lately.
thanks guys
mike

I've used a PI Pro for 10 years and dig everything. A double blip is usually elongated ferrous - nails, spikes. I never claimed to be able to differentiate more than that with it. What can count on is punching deep into red & black sand. I prefer to use mine in areas I know are NOT terribly littered with ferrous targets. What I did is send mine to whites and have a Dual Field coil fitted to it last year. It's a great detector and a useful part of any salt beach arsenal. Use a BIG scoop with a large magnet fastened in it.

Bruce,
Is that dual field coil fully functional on your PI Pro? I figured there was some additional circuitry in the box that would prevent it from being anything more than a 12 inch coil.

like my surfmaster but miss no discminate
as on the beach many shallow coins can be found with high disc
only 1 gold ring this year and very small
