White's surfmaster P.I

Hard Nosed Dave

New member
Does anyone know of an "off the shelf" eliptical double "d" coil that would work with the surfmaster p.i. or is it a specialised request from a specialist coil builder and/or detector techician/specialist.

Thanks

Hard Nosed Dave.

That is the only coil, there is nothing off the self. The circuit would have to be modified for DD use and a coil build to specifications. What is your idea for this? Don

Don,

Thanks. An improvement in area coverage and possibly the benefits that come with a double "d" coil's search field under such a coil.

I guess I would have also liked a more "skeletal" or "spider web" type coil to get less planing when searching in the water. I just found that there is less resitance from such a coil shape in that way.

I do have the underwater version(non bouyant) but when you swing from side to side it has to be very slowly and I can feel it pushing upwards and pulling downwards form side to during the swinging.

With practise you will learn how to glide the coil in the water
while keeping it close to the bottom.
