Whites/Teknetics Older Style Lower Rod and Mounting Hardware

A question for those who own and still use the older Whites or older Teknetics detector.

I've got a Teknetics 8500/B and I landed a VERY nice 10" spider coil for it. I also have the later style lower rod for the two mounting ear coils, but I don't have the mounting hardware (bolt washers, ect..) and was wondering what some of you had come up with for mounting the coil with this setup?

Is the orig, a metal bolt (screw) or was it plastic?

If it was plastic it would have to be really small? I could probably drill the holes out in the coil and use the newer whites coil mounting bolt (I have one of those) but the hole in the lower rod is really to close to the end to drill it out that large without weakening it.

The factory mount system on the stock coil (single mounting ear/tab) uses what looks to be a brass screw with inserts into black plastic thumb knobs (but its to short for the double ears on the 10" coil.

So, did you stay with metal or did you convert to plastic? (if you did what did you use and what size did you use)

Right now I'm thinking I could,
go to Lowes and get a long enough brass screw the same dia, as the stock coil and just use the factory thumb nut off the stock coil.

Or I could order the correct screw and nut from Keith at East Texas detectors (reall a small order)

Hey Mark, send me your address again! I might have something laying around I could send you!
Also you could go to Lowes and look in their section that has drawers that hold Plastic screws and nuts..
I would use plastic if you can though...
