Whites the only company that didn't sell out?

Can someone tell me if Whites is the only detector company that hasn't sold out yet ? Are they still made in the USA? Is there any other company that still makes detectors in the USA ? Sorry if I sound ignorant but I've been out of the game for awhile.

Thanks....

Garret stillclaims to be made in the USA Texas but dont hold me to it

Unless it's changed recently, I believe Tesoro, Garrett, Whites, and the Fisher line are all made in the USA. Fisher was taken over several years ago, I believe by the same outfit that builds Bounty Hunters and numerous other detectors in Texas if I'm not mistaken. As to whether any of those are built elsewhere, I don't know.

I think your right about the assembled in USA...Parts made in Taiwan thing....Even US cars have metric parts...Which is a dead giveaway that they were made over seas...
Half of your Dodge cars and trucks have Mitzubishi engines...It is the way of the economy I guess, but it is a shame....

HH,

White's is mostly AMERICAN MADE they say in their advertising that their components are made in Sweet Home Oregon! I know their tough to say least I've dropped, banged, kicked and stepped on my Whites metal detectors a few times. I don't think you can do that to ones made Malaysia too many times:unsure:

Whites, Garrett, Tesoro and First Texas machines are made in the USA. I know a lot of their parts are purchased elsewhere. But the main parts seem to be made in the factories like the boards, housings and coils. I have had Tesoro's, Whites and Garrett's apart and the boards don't have anything on them to hint they are made elsewhere. I will tell you that some accessories are made elsewhere like pouches, bags and hats.

I dug this up from my files. ROB

The Primary's comments, our PCBs are manufactured in our own factory. In fact, we recently added a second pic-n-place line, specifically so we wouldn't have to move any PCB production to China. However, where the chips and resistors and other components we put on the PCBs are made is often beyond our choice. Much of this stuff simply isn't available from US sources. But White's does everything we can to manufacture all we can in-house, and employ as many Americans as we can (and we're hiring more, not less!). - Carl

Yeah it doesn't bother me about the components as they have been made overseas for years. I just heard about Fisher and freaked out hoping that not all had done the same, and not sure if that meant they were having their detectors built in China. As for me, I like seeing the Made in USA stamp on my detectors and I know that Whites are awesome detectors and still built like a tank...Call me a patriot! Thanks for all the input!

Nothing wrong with being a patriot in my book. Some years back, when I was into cameras/photography pretty heavy, it pained me that so much of the decent equipment was either Japanese or German or do without.

Toyotas and Hondas are built in the USA with made in USA stickers. To be labeled made in USA, anything only has to have a certain percentage of their parts actually made here and that percentage is usually very low. It's another example of your politicians selling you out.

[size=large]this isn't the forum for this arguement. and the man is correct. there is a certain percentage a company has to meet to be able to claim made in the u.s.a. the top Three car manufacturers in this country, Ford, GM and Chrysler, all make their cars out of country and ship the unfinished auto across the border to the u.s. to finish the job and claim made in america. that was the whole reason for N.A.F.T.A. and C.A.F.T.A. THERE IS NO SECRET ON THIS SO CALM YOUR JETS. the polititions have been selling us out for decades. it's nothing new. If the md machines are made the same way there's no stopping it. pick the machine you like and go hunting. there's plenty of made in America stuff in the ground to find.

Woops I guess that was a bad question to ask lol. I hate getting old...the older I get the more I wish things would stay the same. Guess I'll have to get used to new designs and strange looking detectors. As long as they work as good as the old ones I have no problem. Sorry to have created an argument..If you need me I'll be in a corner sucking my thumb.

Agree'd and absoultely coreect,,,, lets not forget Harley Davidson, on my 99 the fuel petcock, the brake discs, all the hoses and wires, the lenses, handlebars and controls where all made overseas,, there was more but after a lengthy discussion with my local mechanic who who also runs and Ironhorse shop said harley has been outsourcing for years! and you must know all their clothing is all made overseas.. if you want true american made you need to buy vintage and I'm sure thats goes with most anything out there these days

I completely understand nothings a 100%, not even close. I just wanted to know the percentage. But when I respond to a political question im told this is'nt the forum for it. But the same person goes on talking political in same post. I guess it's 0k to ask or say some thing political just as long as no one responds to it. So, what is the percentage????? LOL
