Whites TRX pinpointer

Picketwire

Well-known member
I have seen many posts criticizing this pinpointer because it only detects at the tip and it takes to long to locate the target. This is wrong. While it is super sensitive at the tip, it becomes sensitive on the side from about the 2 ½ inch mark clear to where the light is located on the handle. If you hold the TRX flat to the ground there is about a 3 inch sensitive area which makes it easy to narrow down the area where the coin is located. Don't believe that only the tip will locate targets.

This is true & a fact that many/most people don't realize.

I never understood why people criticise that feature....I actually want my pinpointer to pinpoint! I have a friend who uses a Garrett Carrot, and very often when he places it in a hole, it will start beeping and he has no idea where the target is likely to be...He then has to start reducing the sensitivity and faffing about trying to narrow down the targets location...For me anyway, using the TRX or the Quest Max is just so much easier...

I'm so glad I have one.😎😊😄🥳

Me to vito, I have a Garrrett, but it is for back up to my TRX, I like that you can use 9V or AA baterys, I have AA for my detector and always have extra. That way if the 9V gose down i can put in AA and keep going. Love the TRX.

Sadly my TRX is not useable these days as it continuously falses....it seems to be a common problem for them once they are 3 or 4 years old. I replaced it with a Quest Max, and if anything, it's better than the TRX...

It's got the same great range/depth as the TRX, and pinpoints off the tip like the TRX, but the speaker is better and the controls to adjust the power ect are simpler...

The Quest also has a discrimination function which initially I wasn't really bothered about, but after using it a while now, i have found it does come in very handy to the point I'd rather have it than not. The other feature I really like is that the Max is rechargeable, but it easily does 8 or 9 day hunts without needing to be recharged.......

Hey Pete, good to know. So if it will be time to replace the TRX this one will do it. Thanks for the info.👍😎

For some reason I can't correct/edit my previous post, but the pointer I have a can recommend is the Quester Xpointer Max...I am saying
Okay this as Quest has a few pointers with similar names, but the features are quite different.
