Apparently you did miss it. Been in the works for a couple of years now. There is an entire series of them, 5 altogether I believe, chronicling the life of A, Lincoln.
You did notice the quartes and nickles recently, right?

There are 4 new one cent coins for 2009 depicting various stages of Lincoln's life. Very few are making it into circulation although they are minting a ton of them. I've gotten a grand total of 4 in change so far and never found one detecting....yet.

They've changed the obverse on several coins.

I guess it's a drop in the bucket compared to some of the ways the government wastes money, but...

Since it costs more than a penny to mint a penny...

It's total stupidity to change the design thereby encouraging people to take them out of circulation.
