Who is the dealer that sells the S.E.F. coils with free shipping?

I really hope you find that dealer. I recently ordered one from Kellyco and was assesed a 14.95 " shipping /handling/special packaging fee". When it came it was in a ordinary box with a flat piece of foam in it. Nothing special. While there was no problem with the unit and it works wonderful , I sure saw no reason for the extra fee. I think its a business tactic where a low price is offered but they make up the price in a high handling fee.

Just saw 10x12 SEF sell on ebay in the last couple of days. It sold for $177 and change and shipping was $14.00. (The guy/gal should have checked KellyCo out) Not defending that much for shipping, but have been told some box sizes, not the actual weight, may cost more to ship.

I know that their pricing is prominently listed on their website. And like any business, the S&H includes not just the postage but the cost associated with getting it ready for shipping.

My son recently ordered a memory card for his phone and without looking, wound up paying $5.95 S&H for a card that came in an envelope with under $1 postage . . . . was I happy? No, but in looking at their ad, it clearly stated the cost and he opted to click the "BUY" button.

The cost of packing and shipping gets picked up by someone . . . Kellyco could always say the coil was sent with FREE SHIPPING and simply add $14.95 to the price . . . . would that have made it any more palatable?

Not trying to justify charges but hey, they are running a business and someone pays the costs . . . . .

Just an observation

Andy

I sent my Excalibur II back to Minelab and the box was a total of 2" over the standard rate so the cost jumped $11 to get it there . . . . rates go by both size and weight.

Don't know this for a fact, but when shipping from a UPS Terminal versus a UPS Store ( Local Neighborhood) the cost seems greater too. I'm talking $5.00 or more per package from my experiences.Shipping to the same areas.

Im in the process of looking at both the Pro coil and 10 X 12 while im here in Florida. That $15 extra charge ONLY applied to the 10 X 12 so they may have just lost a customer for their SEF coil. I felt like they were hideing those charges to appear $30 cheaper than the Pro. Expecially since they advertise it as a $300 plus coil reduced.... but that the beauty of advertising i guess. I guess ill pick me up a pro coil somewhere.

Yes, Andy, I certainly DID know the full cost, and I know that Kellyco can charge whatever they want. My point is that you are led to believe that It will come in a "special" package and handling and charged for it, then when it arrives, ain't nuthin special about it. I ordered the coil on 11-25-08 it arrived on 01-04-09. After not receiving any word for a while I called Kellyco and found that they were back ordered. I was not notified by Kellyco of the back order. I am really trying to be fair and know well the E-Bay sellers that rip you off on shipping, but I, and a lot of others watch for that when we order and don't buy from the ripoff artists. I am not putting Kellyco in the same group as these guys. Kellyco may even receive the coils from their supplier in bulk and have to re-package them for shipment. That's the cost of doing business and I'm sure it not easy these days. If the total cost to Kellyco for producing these coils and getting them ready to send out to a customer is what they charge, then so be it, but do not hide your costs in a phantom special packaging and handling fee. I have not asked Kelleyco for any money back and don't want any, I will just say to them, don't add surcharges to make it appear that prices are cheap, your customers will stay with you because you are up-front with them and they can trust you.

I ordered an Infinium a month back from KellyCo and they stiffed me an extra $19 just to ship it to my PO box. That was irritating. That was just an extra ploy to squeeze more money out of me. In retrospect I should have canceled the order right then and there when they told me that. I hope your listening KellyCo because whenever I can I will order from someone else so I hope that $19 sits under your pillow every night and you sleep with a little grin on your face as you think of all the extra money you're making from that little ploy. No one else has ever charged me almost $20 for sending it to a PO box.

Just a note on a recent order from Kellyco..... I finally saved enough money to purchase the 6" Excelerator Coil, (It's only $99) and shipping/handling was $9.95 FINE, no problem. That is FAIR. But then I ask for the 6" coil cover...CHA CHING, another $9.95 S&H. Oh, you want a dust/rain cover...CHA CHING, another $9.95 S&H. YOU GET THE POINT. I ended up with just the coil. It is not fair that I have to pay $30 dollars to ship something that weighs 3 pounds. I think my days of ordering from Kellyco are over.

I don't want to support a company that does that to it customers. Either add it to the price before hand or charge the correct shipping costs.

Any small dealers out there that carry the coils please contact me. I would love to give you some business.

Have any of you tried to pick up the phone and call Kellyco and ask for a lower price? Sometimes you pay for the convience of point and click shopping. Just a hint.

And for the one you asked about comparing the 10x12 to the 11 Pro, here in NC we tried both coils on a well established garden, the SEF was deeper, more accurate and a crisper sound on good, deep targets overall.

I have seen some comparisons done elsewhere that showed little or no difference in the coils. Depends on the ground conditions where you are. I specifically waited until I could get my hands on a friends Pro coil to test against another friends SEF before I ordered either one for my Explorer II. As you can see above, I bought the SEF.

That extra shipping and packageing ONLY applies to the 10 X 12... not the other SEF coils. I just didnt like the perception that i was getting a coil as good as the Pro at a much cheaper price... when i really aint.

You swing the 10 x 12 a full day and you swing the pro coil a full day and it will be easy to tell the better coil in more ways than one in my humble opinion,Ray.

I ship several hundred items a year as I sell a lot of stuff on Ebay and USPS is almost alway faster and cheaper unless item is very large and or heavy.

I've always had good luck dealing with Kelly Co. Bought a Explorer XS 7 years ago, an Etrac the first of Sept, and several misc items along the way. Quick delivery service costs more of course, but here are the shipping rates for accessories from Kelly Co.s website:

Small accessories (headphones, pouches, knives, books, etc.) receive the following shipping treatment:
