Why are Ace users stuck with only 2 coils?

Slingshot,
I pride myself on my coil technique and griding capabilities. But I can still pull coins from places I have pounded. Am I just getting better? No. Am I getting my coil over a target at a little different angle? Yes. Has the soil moisture changed? Yes? Do I feel like digging more iffy targets? Yes. You read stories where a hunter has used several machines in their own yard. They believe they have sifted it clean. Then they get a new machine and find a good target. They will write "those other machines are a POS because my new machine hit a quarter at only 2 inches!" I'm paraphrasing here. But to be honest ANY machine would have picked that target up. Then I have to question their technique.... All you have to do is watch the vids on youtube and see all those people sweeping their coils 4 inches above the ground, lifting the coil up at the end of their sweeps and leaving a foot or two in between each sweep. I wonder how many good targets they miss....
Could be the overlapping. The only thing that got me to wondering is that I have been over this area with 4 different detectorss, one with a 4" coil. If the coins were new looking, I could understand. Anywho, on with the test with both detectors.

When one understands how little area their coil is actually covering at depth ( an area about the size of a quarter ) then it's easy to understand why and how one misses coins and why no place is ever hunted out. I've written a couple of articles on that subject.

As per my prior post, too many users equate the area they are covering to the size of their coil moving around in front of them. Even if one overlaps 50% they are still missing a ton of real estate at depth.

Yeah I know what you mean. Every time Garrett (or any company 0 sends me a new detector to test I'm like a kid in a toy store. :)

That's very true Bill. Each time I hunt the same area I get more meticulous with my coils sweeps. The first few times I'll cherry pick. Then after that I'll work smaller areas slower as finds become less.

HI I AM A ACE 250 USER AND I HAVE JUST GOT THE STANDED COIL...............:):) A GOOD MATE OF MINE GOT 3 COILS AND HE JUST USE THE BIG ONE AND HE MISS THINGS AND I GO RIGHT BEHIND HIM AND FIND IT WITH MY SMALL COIL SO IT GOES TO SHOW BIGGER IS NOT ALWAYS BETTER................:):):):)

Because it is a low end detector.
Move up to the 1350 or the 2500.
After all ... you are finding money with the detectors ... right?

don't forget the target masking boys,, I am still finding coins in areas I have already done,, found 2 coins right beside a couple of ring pulls yesterday,, coins were deeper and the ring pull were quite shallow,, but I never got the the coin signal properly until I had dug the trash

I'm super impressed with how my 250 is so far, bought it off my cousin who never used it. I ordered the 9 x 12 yesterday cant wait to try it out.
