I have been viewing this whatzit forum since it opened and have also recommended it to others.
How did you get so incredible good in item identification? Once you have quickly identified an item you commonly provide pictures of similar items and other pertinent information.
I am always amazed.
Keep up the good work- George

...would a trout by any other name taste any sweeter?

Ha! Well, George, I'm kinda obsessive (which suits me just fine when searching every square inch of dirt for an old coin) and pretty persistant (which goes a long way when the fish aren't biting) and I've been blessed with a pretty good memory that files away obscure bits of trivia and things I've seen (though my wife doesn't think I'm so awesome when I forget to pick up milk, and don't remember anniversaries and all the IMPORTANT stuff SHE told me two days ago )
Mostly though, I'd chalk it up to Google and a high speed connection.
But thanks for saying so anyway.

...if not, I suppose a posted pic of nuggets would be acceptable.

I think its a perfume bottle, what do you think?
The little bottle is over 100 years old. Found by an old time miner in an old Yukon cabin 60 year ago. He is 93 now and said the cabin was old when he was young . He once owned the famous historic claim at the mouth of Bonanza creek.
He gave the bottle to my wife 7 years ago, and she used it for her favorite gold pieces There is a story about why they are favorites it will be on Royals story forum tonight.
When i get off my duff and use my camera i will have some things for you peruse

Ahhhhhh.... thank you Wayne! Just looking at that bottle does something... can I hold it, only for a minute, please?
What is it about gold? That is such an excellent picture. Thank you for posting it!

Hi Andy,
Yes it could have been used for that, given the place and time, but not originally i don't think.
Wayne

I believe our resident "super sleuth" Steve, has a secret passion for gold mining
If he did not live a few thousand miles from me i'd take him out and let him see some yellow in a pan , maybe someday i will get the chance. Then i will weasel some detector tips outta him! Wish this site had been around when i started detecting a dozen years ago, i threw away a lot of good stuff!
Ya you can hold it Bud, and some more, if you like.
