Those people who put down this product are missing out.
I just love the little Tracker IV, and I have found heaps of stuff and people just don't believe me.
Great operator behind the wheel certainly makes a difference., well at least a good operator.

I think that the is put down because it is a general usage MT made so that people can afford a good MT. As far as I am concerned. The rocks right up there with allot of the high end MT's.
Maybe it's nice to have multiple frequencies, and maybe a color graphical display, but seems to find pretty much everything the upper end MT's do.
I'd gladly purchase another MT if I needed a new one.
I guess you can think of it like a Chevy Silverado truck. You have different trims, basic, trim a middle trim and a high end trim. The difference is whistles and bells which changes the price, but all three trucks do basically the same thing.
I love my Time Ranger.

I certainly agree with what has been said thusfar here.
The operator sure has a lot to do with it and people
have a tendency to get just a little upset if they get
outhunted by an inexpensive Bounty Hunter. Just
get a model that you like and learn it well. Look at
what they are finding right here on this forum and then
go look at another forum. I am thinking you aren't going
to see much difference. Oh yeah, one thing that I have
noticed is that guys that use a BH are pretty darn happy
with it. All 3 of those detectors you mentioned have a big
following. Don't know why you didn't sell them. Maybe
just the economy or they are waiting for the latest and
greatest to do something these wont. Wishful thinking I
say. Been detecting since 1963 myself and have seen
many detectors come and go.

Good thoughts Drummerman. Never had a Time Ranger but have heard
a lot of good things about them. Got to like a light weight machine like that
with all the options it gives you. Deep hunter too by what I have seen.

The operator is without a doubt the key. I know by what you have said that you really
know how to use it too. Wouldn't want to be detecting a site right behind you.

I know you have been around for awhile and have heard all of this before just
as I have, Probably wont be the last time either. Hard to believe but sometimes

I only have used a Tracker IV, in my opinion has a great quality-price value, I have found nice things at the beach with it, but next time I will try another brand, not because I hate BH MTs but because I want to try different things before making my personal opinions

Bounty Hunter started with cheap builds when it started, so they were considered on the bottom of the totem pole, VW of detectors. They never acquired a good resale...
They did work well ad still do, some older models are still in demand.

If Walmart and Radio Shack sells them ....they must be junk......... You'll hear people say .

My friend bought one from Radio Shack a number of years ago, for $200.00. And yes it beat my MXT too. I was shocked. Thought about getting one myself at that point.
It found silver, I found clad.... A few months later I bought a Bounty Hunter older Radio Shack model for $20.00. It was a killer unit at a school yard, ID'd perfect on coins to 5". And I found a pile of coins. It was more fun than the MXT . Simple set-up and it worked.

I agree with Sven. The cheap plastic housing, and in the beginning their factory didn't have the modern day enironmentally protected work area it has now. Some of the detectors with needles on the ID had to be sprayed with common glass cleaner to rid them of static electricity after a period of usage. The Tracker is my favorite but my gripe is the circuit board is too big-it was once in a Technetics package (Road Runner) with a board a little larger than a credit card! The tracker could be put in a band-aid metal box and you could have a breakdown detector to fit in a small place ready at a moments notice. The plastic is cheap, the circuitry is not. I've got the Road Runner circuit board-if I just had the operating pots to go with it.

I've had a minelab SE for less than two years now. Before that I used a BH Landstar for about 7-8 years. Great machine !! I did very well with it. Many large cents and Ct coppers, Tons of barbers, indians, 1/2 & 2 reales, lots of various silver coins, seated etc. I even found a 1662 Oak Tree twopence with it.
CAN'T COMPLAIN !! Great little machine !
One of the keys to MD is getting to know your machine and developing a "sense" with it.

I have a QD II as well and I love it. I got a question tho, is the QD II the same as a 202? I'm led to believe that a 505 is the big brother too mine, what model is that? If it's not the big brother, which one is?

people don't know or realize that BH, Teknieks(spelled wrong) and Fishers are all made by the same co-First Tx.also the QD2 is the exact same as the pioneer 202 that was made for walmarts.I also agree they have had a bad rap- my old 202 still works fine and is capable of finding things at depths some newer machines can't -being affordable and operator friendly ya think more people would have one.let them spend money on bells and whistles-its all in the name ya can spend $50. on Levis or $12. on rustlers and they both do exactly the same thing.
