Why Kellyco has the reputation they do !

I decided to give one of the Nautilus machines a go, and contacted Kellyco by eMail to get their best price on a DMC-IIb w/10 inch coil "without" all of their usual mickey-mouse add-ons in the "freebies" package.
This morning I get a return e-mail stating that the price "without accessories (freebies)" is ONLY $629.95
Well, I found this a little strange, considering their internet price is $549.95 "WITH" all the freebies ! They want $80 MORE for less equipment ?
I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, and went back into their internet page and looked at the price on the DMC-IIba, thinking maybe they quoted me on the wrong machine. If I used the IIba price, they were allowing me a whopping $15 off for all of that great freebie stuff. WOW!
When I added up their stated "VALUE" of all those freebies, they totaled $294.80.......and that wasn't including those swell high performance headphones that they give away with every detector.
Let's see, they either want $80 extra for all the stuff I "don't" get, or they are allowing me $15 for their $294.80+ "value" in freebies that are basicly useless junk.
Either way you look at it, these people have some pretty dubious business practices going on. You have to applaud companies like Tesoro for not allowing their company or machines to be represented by such misrepresentation. But what can you expect from a company that seriously markets "long range locators" and such nonsense?
Just my opinion of course.

ESSchroer@aol.com he will treat you right. He is one of my digging buddies and really knows his Nautilus machines.

I have twice tried to buy from KellyCo but being in the U.K. I have had to e-mail to find out the total cost including post/insurance.
Each time the cost has been tremendously inflated and when I question why it seems a mistake has been made on the web site so the new price ends up $50 or $100 more. This always means I can buy cheaper elsewhere so now I cut out the waste of time/effort and go elsewhere first.

They were one of the first internet dealers I ever became aware of. Fortunately, the Tesoro forum SAVED me ! I probably would have gotten disgusted with it all, paying "a lot for my muffler" and having a bunch of cheap accessories to add to the experience. Like Brian said, when see some of the "technology" they are selling at extreme prices, it's hard to buy anything from them.
HH!

back in the 70's I bought my first couple of detectors from them. After a few transactions I soon learned my lesson. Now with the Internet and all the reputable dealers that now exist buying a detector is much easier than it once was!

You probably haven't received my email with the correction. I quoted for a IIB A by mistake. You can copy and paste it if you like, it has the time stamp on it.

I only bought once from them back in the early nineties, but it wassmooth and at a good price and would not hesitate in purchasing from them again. A friend of mine who tries near every machine that comes out buys from kellyco all the time. He has tried others and goes back and deals with Stu Auerbach directly. I had some other personal dealings with Stu in the early nineties and I found the entire staff to be great people! Maybe something has changed, but my experiences have been all good.

.....JW did eMail me back, stating that he had misquoted me on the wrong machine, and the price he gave me was within $5 of the best quote I had obtained from other dealers. There sure doesn't seem to be many dealing in the "esoteric" Nautilus line, or even much information on it on any of the forums. If anyone is interested though, here is a link to a good overview of the IIb that Jbird wrote awhile back......(on a non-commercial forum)

they ship up to 100 detectors a DAY !! WOW !
I like to browse their store. Lots of books and and cool accessories. Over priced shipping, though.
