Why does everybody use mosfets for the power switch instead of high voltage bipolars which have less capacitance?

I used to use BJT's, even the 2N3055 in some designs (Motorola ones worked best), but Mosfets are almost exclusively used nowdays. Its probably a good idea to look at BJT's again, as I'm sure better devices are now available.
Eric.

i'VE BEEN PLAYING WITH THE BU2525 TRANSISTORS WHICH WERE DESIGNED FOR HORIZ. FLYBACK CKT.S IN TV - THEY ARE BIG HONKING 10 AMP 1kV THINGS, SO YOU HAVE TO DRIVE THE BASE WITH SOMETHING PRETTY STIFF BUT THEY ARE CHEAP AND RUGGED AND HAVE A FALL TIME OF ABOUT A QUARTER OF A MICROSECOND.
