Why the ACE 250 slam?

I frequent another site and I've noticed a disregard or down right disdain toward the ACE 250. Some view it as a kiddies toy or an entry machine to disregard. I don't view it that way. I feel that this is a STRONG entry machine that can deliver the goods. I also see some seasoned users with it, as it is fairly popular. No, it is not a $1500.00 top of the line unit, but it isn't a kids toy either. I respect this machine for it's capabilities and limitations, but I feel that it has far more of the first, than the later. Sorry, I just had to get that out. I'm tired of the snobbery towards the ACE on some sites. Thanks for letting me rant.

I do notice resentment on some of the other forums towards other manufacturers. I don't understand it, it seems a little adolescent, but what ever. I am just happy that we don't have to put up with that kind of entertainment here on the Garrett forum!:garrett:

Who cares! The truth speaks for itself. Charles Garrett wanted to build a decent metal detector, one that ALL could afford. So he built the Ace Series. The ones doing the cheap slamming are usually new people metal detecting, and slamming other brands usually compensates for their ignorance and lack of knowledge. I have read posts from so many well seasoned hunters, stating that they love the ACE and use it often. The results of "how good is the ACE" can be found by looking at all the gold, silver, coins, relics, jewelery etc. found by the ACE on the Garrett forums. :)

they cant respect it for what it is a well balanced machine .. i dont think it as a entry level machine or for begginers
but hey i started with the ace , and ill end with it .. so i guess its a starters machine but takes alot of time and patice
to get to know the ACE , i love the machine and garrett did a good job with it ...

Remember.. Some of this boils down to Ford vs. Chevy, whatever I have is better than yours, etc. I have the MUCH maligned Scorpion and at first thought I might've wasted my money and time on a detector that I would hate. Guess what? The detector (and luck of being in good spots) has impressed me to the point that I now question..based on experience..why people say what they say! Results speak. The ACE has documented results on youtube, forums and others who just do what they do without talking about it much! Another example.. I've hunted game for years. On one of my favorite forums for hunting, there are certain brands of rifles that are hailed as good or even best. All others need not apply. Well, I bought one of the dreaded Rugers...which has become my favorite rifle! It did what I wanted-and better-without spending tons on mods and 'upgrades'. Certainly there are things other detectors can do better..but don't fall into the trap of believing that the ACE is a worthless POS waste of money and time!! Search posts. Lots of folks have paid for their detectors and then went on to upgrade with what they have found with the ACE! Can you ask for more?

Thanks guys. I was told to just save my money and get another detector. To he.. with them. I just ordered the 9x12 coil and the rain cover. I like my 250 and the nay sayers can go jump in a lake.

I have several models of several brands of detectors and I use each of them according to the area and situation I'm in. But, the Ace 250 is ALWAYS in the car with me on every hunt cuz I know if one of the others won't produce or gets a little hinky on me, I can pull out the 250 and get a few treasures. Sure, it has a few limitations but what detector doesn't. I'm pretty sure those who are poo-pooing the 250 have never used one or maybe used one for 5 minutes and declared it a toy cuz they were trying to make it act like their "Wonder Detector"!! I remember when the 250 was first introduced, I bought one of the very first ones and it kinda freaked me at first. It was hitting on everything!! But after an adjustment to the Sens., it smoothed right out. Some were trying to run them wide open, like they tend to do with their "Wonder Detectors" and the 250 became too unstable to function properly and were pronounced junk or toys!! Now, if you really want to see a TOY detector, buy a .........nope, not going there!!

You have that element on every forum except this one. Most of the people pizzing about the 250 have never used one or are just parroting someone else or they had one and couldn't figure out how to use it. I just don't pay any attention to them other than to tell them that the 250 is the most sold detector on the market.

Just to be honest-I thought I had made a mistake when I bought mine. Came to find out a lots of things about it. Just yesterday I got the usual beep-bong! signal that I have to go back with the coil raised and a slower sweep speed and dang if it didn't stay! Turned out to be two nickels just below a dime. It don't beep just to frustrate everyone-there' usually a good reason for the tones. And you can always get the sniper coil if you can't take the plethora of signals when in a trashy area. I'm just thankful that a machine with these features was made available to someone like me who can't afford that super do-do deeper detecter to find a coin at 4".

Yeah I've harped on the abuse of sensitivity for years but it just doesn't sink in. Everyone thinks it's a depth control and it ain't.

Cool. I took the ACE out today and dug under some pine trees in a park, because it was thawed under there. Picked up two silvers. 59 dime/53 quarter. I look forward to the bigger coil arriving.

they are just pissed that the ace can do better then most of there high dollar unit so to make them feel better they have to trash the ace.

The ACE Sucks silver and gold treasures out of the ground as good as and sometimes better then machines costing 2 x as much. But don't tell anybody, because they get mad.

And the rain cover give it one impressive look.
Still thinking about the Snipper coil, but maybe in the future.
I usually trade after a period of time, but the Ace 250 is still hanging in there.
It's one fun machine..

Anyway happy hunting.

I have recommend The ace to 11 people and they are enjoying their new hobby -- The Ace Rules --- Graw

Just got my Ace 250 2day. I've allready found a gold ring. I am a begginner!!! Does that say what kind of machine the 250 is?? I say it"s kick a$#!!!!!!!!! God Bless!!!! :0)

that several months (6 or so) ago, over on the Explorer forum,(Findmall) one of the fellas asked how many Explorer owners own an Ace. There were a lot more than a few. It was a popular back up/ alliterative detector to their Explorers. They wouldn't own it or admit to owning it, if they considered it to be a toy. These are Minelab owners, not Garrett loyal owners.

the ace is a great little detector, it"s fun to use, it doesn't cost to much, the battery's are cheep & it finds loot by the bucket load  ya only need to look back though the post to see all the great finds it makes to tell ya how good it is ( really that's the only way to tell if a detector is any good or not ) my ace has payed for it self many times over + i"v found more gold with the ace than with any other detector i"v owned.
happy users + lotsa loot = a great detector
