WHY THE PRO-POINTER DETECTS DEEPER IF YOU HOLD METAL AGAINST THE HOUSING...

This is very interesting to find out about the pro pointer. My question is were is a good place to attach the metal on the pointer? Does the pointer have to be beeping like crazy of just enough to where it starts to beep?

Ya can stick it wherever ya like sport, so long as it is at a point that just gets the pointer chirpin n then back it of to where it just goes quiet.
Experiment a bit but remember that the more sensitive you make it the more likely that the pointer will sound of on mineralised ground.

When used on mineralised ground, it is common practice to include a ground balancing step, before increasing the sensitivity to the point where the Pro-Pointer can detect tiny gold particles the size one will find when gold panning
It has been discussed before, but is usually ignored.

Also in the Owner's Manual there is a note that say ( Do not affix metallic labels- a.s.o) there is a valid reason for this.
It's a NO NO to follow the suggestion some chap made with regards to taping a piece of foil to the unit and leave it on while the pro-pointer is activated.

To find out what will happen, give it a try.

Start at the end where the battery drops in then slide it down almost to the LED light then back it off a tad.

Yeah one guy uses his ring - which is mighty handy. On another note, I hang out on the Vision forum once in awhile and I was facinated to find that the vast majority of White owners prefer and use the PP over any other pointer including White's, so it must have something going for it for a revamped body scanner..

You can take a piece of clear tape and secure a piece of aluminum foil on the top of your thumb nail. This wil make it easy to make your deep seeking adjustment. Push your button on with your thumb. Then adjust to suit. I think the depth I get is fine. But I tried this method today and it's quick and easy.

Yes Ivanll is very correct.
I mentioned on another forum that the metal is to be located in position on the pointer AFTER the PP is turned on and removed when the unit is turned off. If you leave it in place at switch off, when you turn the PP on again it will tune down to compensate for the attached piece of metal and significant depth will be lost. you must reposition the metal each time the PP is turned on and remove it each time you turn off.

Again, you can't just leave the coin taped on, the detector will retune it'sself to include the coin when you turn it off and back on. Then you have in effect a stock detector again. Try it. :yikes:

Adrian, the tone ID on my Tesoro Golden was extended 1.5 inches by taping 4 silver dimes to the top of the 8x9 inch coil. Previously, a 6 inch dime gave an Iron tone, now I get a high tone. This is air tests, didn't try it in the field yet because of the snow. It seems the tones from all metals was pushed higher a tiny bit, but the overall detection depth seems to be the same.
