WHY WE DONT MAKE IT SIMPLE ???

HELLO GUYS.

I had read many forums about, EXII settings, suggestions etc.

a view examples:

"IF you go for targets which are closely together select FAST=ON"
"if you go for targets which are deep select DEEP=ON"
" if you hunt in very trash area select Discrimination(accept/reject/learn/edit) etc."

............................and many other suggestions.

>>>If i go hunting i dont know what Kinds of targets have to expected (GOLD/SILVER/COPPER/RELICT) also i dont know how deep the targets are or if the targets are closely together and also if a area has locally very trash or not!!!!.

MY QUESTION ARE :

IF I HUNT WITH IM -16 AND DIG EVERYTHING WHICH HAS DIGITAL READING FER<10 AND CON>12 WHAT TARGETS CAN I MISS ????(SENSITIVE=MAX IF POSSIBLE, SOUND=FERROUS, MANUAL,DOUBLE SWING DIRECTION CONFIRMATION FOR THE DIGITAL READINGS).

FOR ANY SUGGESTIONS AND ANSWERS THANKS IN ADVANTAGE!!

In -16 you will know what kind of site you have, and the depth of targets will be known by the depth gauge and by the modulate sound of the targets as long as you have the gain around 5.

If the reading were "pure" such as what we get if we test in the air then you would still miss good targets. A ferrous reading less than 10 and conductive reading greater than 12 as an example would miss some gold, nickles, a lot of jewelry, and all the targets that in conjunction with the variable in the soil matrix indicate with a ferrous reading all the way to 31 for some Indian Heads. Many coins will read with a ferrous reading much greater than 10 and a conductivity of much less than 10.

When you said to make it simple I thought you were going to say just dig everything and that is simple if you have the energy and strength to do so. However, why would anyone dig everything if we could only dig anything with a ferrous reading less than 10 and conductive reading greater than 12? The bottom line is it is not simple so we make take our best shot and play the odds. What I think we do is try to load the odds so we hit the jackpot more often. If it sounds like a coin, and looks like a coin, then it just may be a coin but unfortunately so do many fakes or slugs. The soil matrix and targets can look like a fake or slug and a piece of trash metal can look like a coin for the same reasons.

Most of the charts I have seen for digital reading for coins is an air test and in for some coins even those are way off from what I measure. Go figure!

Hello Guys.

@Cody: with Fer<10 and Con>12 i think i have the range for the most of the coins!!
I live in Europa and we havent indian Heads or nickles to miss them !!!
If i miss jewelry is ok iam not "interesting" for this kind.(if i find its ok!).
Problem are the range of Gold coins !!
I havent a gold coin to put in the ground and read the digital readouts!!
>>>>>I need some digital readouts for this kind of coins!!!

We have in Europa plenty of coins(gold/silver/copper) and the most of them are ancient!

>>>ONE EXII settings has you no comment???
SOUND=FERROUS me dealer says this is the most advantage which has expII against other metal detectors(Which USED ONLY conductive Sound!!!)

OK. I go next week to hunt and let you and Zorro know what have i found!!

On my Explorer a $5 gold coin hits right below smashed screw caps and a $10 gold coin hits exactly where smashed screw caps hit on my smart screen for the Explorer XS. This area is right below basically where memorial pennies hit, about half inch from the top right and about half inch or less down on the gold.

Why not go to a coin dealer in your area and ask if you can test some of his gold coins and see where they hit?

You do not have to hunt IM-16 to hit gold coins. You could have half your screen darkened and still hit gold coins.

Tony, fine thin gold rings will hit down at the bottom of the screen. Unfortunately, so many of these rings are ladies that have the best stones. I think a gold dollar will also hit in that same area. My gold class ring hits at 7/25 but my wedding ring hits down in the bottom 1/4 of the screen. Gold jewelry will hit all over the screen due due to the alloy and many shapes of these good targets. White gold hits at different points than yellow gold so it get really hard to know where gold is going to be on the display. I have only found one gold coin but a lot of gold jewelry so go mostly by that. If we eliminate jewelry then we could eliminate a bunch of the screen but that for me has been the more valuable finds other than the 2 1/2 dollar gold coin and two 1916D dimes.
