Will a detector respond to titanium?

My wife is flying this weekend and got a note from her doctor disclosing a knee replacement (so the TSA won't take her knee apart). She also has metal plates in her neck and lower back. I didn't believe her when she said the detectors won't go off with titanium, but, would with her stainless steel knee. So, I got my Pro Pointer out and sure enough, the knee sounds off, but, her neck and back didn't! I didn't try the F75, however, suspect since the PP didn't sound off, the F75 wouldn't either. Just doesn't make sense to me........I thought it would respond to any metallic object!

Depends on how sensitive the equipment is set.

Roland, I have titanium pins in my right femur and arm. My F5 will hit on it in all metal mode. Now the hand held and the walk through detectors they use like at the court house wont pick up. I think they have them set just above that range.

That's kinda what I was thinking. Guess I'll have to fire up the F75 and see if she shows up on it!!

I KNOW that is right! The plates and screws in my left ankle will set it off, big time. I have done a complete 360

Haven't had any of the airport detectors respond to the titanium screws, rods and such in my back at any of the airports I've been thru.

Yes Titanium does respond to a detector. Now here is the part you will love.. On my F75 Titanium ring bounces between 19-22 vdi readout. Yes that is in the foil range. Now get out there and dig those foil signals.
